Understanding Philippine Volcanic Activity

Viscosity refers to the resistance of a fluid to flow. Fluids with high viscosity are thick and sticky, like honey, while low viscosity fluids flow more freely, like water. The chemical composition refers specifically to the minerals and elements that make up the magma, like silica, iron, magnesium, etc. Dissolved gases refers to gases like water vapor, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, etc. that are dissolved in the magma but will be released during an eruption. Common gases released during volcanic eruptions include water vapor, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and others. Great job explaining those key concepts, group 1!

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

PREPARATORY ACTIVITY

1. Prayer
Everyone, please stand and let us
pray. Miss ___________, please
lead the prayer.
(prayer)
2. Greetings
Good morning class!
Good morning Ma’am!
Please take your seats.

How are you today? Thank you!

Glad to hear that. Great ma’am

For now, I’m going to check the

attendance in this class. Those
who are not in their seats
respective seats will be marked
absent.

3. Attendance
Attendance for each table
please write it down in a ¼ sheet
of paper.
(students’ start writing their name)

4. Agreement
Class, before we start a new
lesson for today’s discussion.
First, we will have an upon
agreement in order for today’s
discussion will set sail smoothly.
Likewise, to maintain an
organized and respectful learning
environment. Are you all okay
with that? Yes, ma’am!

I want you to keep all your

things that are not needed to our
discussion. Sit properly and do
not talk with your seatmates.
Observed silence at all times.

What will you do if somebody

is talking here in front? Listen attentively ma’am in order we can learn
something.
Very Good!
What will you do if you want to
answer to my questions?
We will raise our right hand ma’am.
Awesome! Bear in mind that do
not answer in chorus.
Understand?
Yes, ma’am.
What about if we have group
activities?
Participate actively ma’am.

Very Good!
So, do we have an agreement
Yes ma’am.
now?

Class, it is important to remember that

these rules and regulations are in place to
create a positive and effective learning
environment. All of you are obliged to
follow the said rules.

Are we clear?
Yes ma’am.

A. ELICIT
Strategy: “ Words Analysis”

“ACTIVITY 1: ARRANGE ME
ACCORDINGLY!”
DIRECTIONS: Given the clue or phrases the
students will arrange the letters
accordingly to form a word associated with
the previous topic.

occur when water beneath the ground.

B. ENGAGE
Strategy: “Game Challenge”

Now, we will have a topic to be

discuss with.

First, we will be having an activity

regarding to our topic today entitled
“ACTIVITY 2: SCIENCE HENYO!”
DIRECTIONS: The class will be divided into
two groups. They will choose among
themselves atleast 2 representatives to
guess the word with the help of the other
member giving the clue. Those groups who
guess the word the fastest is the winner.

E. ELABORATE
Strategy: Video- Analysis

For you to have a deeper understanding

about the types of volcanic eruptions, I
want everybody to please watch this short
video.

After this, another activity will do.

(the students are watching the video)

1. Enumerate the aforementioned 4

 Lava flow
 Pyroclastic flow
2. Give atleast 1 natures of eruption
and explain it. Magma Temperature because it reflects the
melting points of their mineral components.

3. Give atleast 2 environment volcanic

effect of volcanoes eruptions 1. Ashfall generates the risk of food and water
contamination.
2. It significantly affects livestock and
domestic animal, crops, and nearby
community, compromising essential services
(water, electricity,, transportation, and
communications) and access to health
services.
“ACTIVITY 4: SHOW ME WHAT
YOU’VE GOT!”

DIRECTIONS: The students will be

divided into 3 groups. Each groups are
task to do what are the signs of an
impending volcanic eruption. They are
going to present it in a form of:

They will be graded based on this

rubrics.

F. EVALUATE

is correct and FALSE if the statement is
incorrect and rewrite the statement to
make it correct. Write your answer on a
separate sheet of paper.
