To Check:
You cannot check this adjustment. You must do this adjustment after installing a new OPTICS
MODULE.

To Adjust:

Laser Warning
• This equipment uses a visible red laser. Prevent direct exposure to the beam from the
laser.
• You must de-energize the system before disconnecting the PMT/DAS BOARD.

to energize the X-ray equipment and
the COLLIMATOR LIGHT on the X-RAY
TUBE.

4 Align the beam of light with a 5.0 cm
(2.0 in.) area of light on the floor around

Preparing the Equipment

Important
DOSIMETER A LEAD SHEET and the help of a
RADIOLOGICAL TECHNOLOGIST (RT) is
necessary for this procedure.

1 Use the following specifications for the

first setup of the X-ray equipment:
• 80 kVp (± 1)
• 80 mAs

Note
The specification above for the mAs might

Important
You must use a LEAD SHEET or a LEAD APRON under the DOSIMETER. If a LEAD SHEET
or a LEAD APRON is not used, the values on the DOSIMETER will be false by a maximum
of 20%.

3 Place a LEAD SHEET or a LEAD APRON and the DOSIMETER TL-4818 in the center of
the area defined by the tape.

4 Move:
• POWER SWITCH on the DOSIMETER to the “ON” position.
• READ/RESET SWITCH to the “RESET” position and then to the “READ” position.
5 Check that “0.00” displays on the LCD DISPLAY.
6 Ask the RT to expose the DOSIMETER.
7 Check that the DOSIMETER displays a value of 20.0 mR ± 2.0 mR on the LCD DISPLAY.

9 Move the READ/RESET SWITCH to the “RESET” position and then to the “READ”
position.
10 If you have adjusted the mAs setting more than once and the value is not within the
specification, move the X-RAY TUBE up a minimum distance.
11 Is the mR value:

14 Record the number on the LCD DISPLAY.

Note
You will use the recorded number when you do the calibration procedure.

15 Ask the RT to expose the DOSIMETER 3 times to check that the values remain within
± 0.2 mR of the value that you recorded in Step 14.

Note
If the values are not within the specification, use another X-ray source.

The calibration is completed. Continue with Step 9.
9 At the “Last Calibrated Date” screen, locate the last date and time for the corresponding
CASSETTE.
10 Locate the corresponding error code in the error log.
11 If you made adjustments to the GALVO for LLI CASSETTES, do a calibration of the
STANDARD CASSETTES again.

Important
If the feature for the Kodak DirectView CR LONG-LENGTH IMAGING (LLI) SYSTEM is
enabled, do the calibration of the LLI CASSETTES before the STANDARD CASSETTES.

1 Click:
• [Service Functions]
• [Diagnostics]
• [Scan Calibration]
2 Enter the number from the display on the DOSIMETER. See Step 14 on Page 163.
3 Insert the first CASSETTE into the system.
4 Click [Start Calibration Scan].
5 Insert the exposed CASSETTES every 2 minutes.

Important
If the calibration is not successful, an error code occurs.

6 Was the calibration successful?

Yes No
The procedure is complete. Continue with Step 7.
7 At the “Last Calibrated Date” screen, locate the current date and time for the
corresponding CASSETTE.
8 Locate the corresponding error code in the error log.
9 If you made adjustments to the GALVO for LLI CASSETTES, do a calibration of the
STANDARD CASSETTES again.
