Packing
Packing is a part of packaging in which the
product is prepared for storage, transport,
handling and delivery by putting packaged
product in large cartons or containers. The
products are packed as per their nature. It
aims at preventing the product from any
damage and keeping them well organized and
easily carrying them during transit. 2

placing products in attractive packages,
as per the convenience of the customers.
It covers all the activities of designing and
developing a suitable container, for the
product, so as to ensure its safety along

chinopodium family. It is an herbaceous
annual plant grown as a crop primarily for
its edible seeds; the seeds are rich in protein,
dietary fiber, B vitamins and dietary minerals
in amounts greater than in many grains.

which includes sugar beet, beetroot and
spinach. It is relatively disease-free. The leaves
can be harvested and cooked like spinach. The
mature seed is collected and washed several
times to remove bitter tasting saponins and

- Quinoa has a majestic history among one
of the most powerful civilizations on the American
continent. It originated with the Incas in the
mountains of Bolivia, Chile and Peru. It’s been at the
forefront in these regions for 5,000 years. It was a
staple for the Incas and is still a prominent food
source for their indigenous descendants, the Quechua
and Aymara people. It was a sacred crop to the Incas
who called it the mother of all grains or chisaya mama.
The legend states that the Incan emperor would
ceremoniously plant the first quinoa seeds every year. 48
Cultivating Quinoa
- The growing condition are in cool
climates with temperature ranging between
-8C during the night to 38C during the day. It
grows best in loam soil with good drainage
high organic matter content, moderate
slopes and average nutrient content. It
should be planted ½ to 1 inch in moist soil
with rows spaced at least 14 inches.

Quinoa seed is ready to harvest when the
