Quran chapter 25 Discernment with new English translation

Translated, written and read by: Sinead Brick Hassen

Immeasurable, continuous and forever glory and praise to the holy and noble lord of
heavens and earth: the one and only God, the honorable and wise ruler, the beloved
and most beautiful creator, the just, honest and sincere judge, the virtuous and
kind, the best friend, the all-knowing, the almighty and the wisest, magnificent
and supreme.

Blessed is the one who sent discernment to his servant to remind people, and that
is the one who has authority over the heavens and the earth, and who has no child,
and who has no collaborators in authority, and who created and determined
everything. And they have taken other gods besides him, who do not create anything,
but are themselves created, and cannot of themselves do any harm, nor benefit, nor
can they give death, life, or resurrect.

And those who do not believe say: "These are only fabrications that he invented,
and some other people help him in this." With such claim, they are actually doing
evil and lying. And they also say: "He writes down the legends of older
generations, and they are dictated to him in the morning and evening." Say: "He has
sent it down who knows all the secrets of the heavens and earth, he is forgiving
and merciful."

And they say: "What kind of messenger is this, that he eats food and walks in the
markets, and why was not an angel sent to him to remind together with him, or why
does he not have wealth or gardens from which to eat?" And the evildoers say even
more: "You just follow an enchanted man." Just look at how they cite various
examples about you, so they wander and cannot find the right path. Blessed is he
who, if he wills, will give you better than what they cite, which are gardens
through which rivers flow and will build you palaces in them.

On the contrary, they think that the hour is a false claim, and whoever thinks that
the hour is false - for such the blaze has been prepared. If they could see it from
afar, they would hear it roar furiously. And when they are cast into its narrow
place, bound in chains, they will invite destruction there. Do not invite one
destruction today, but invite many destructions. Say: "Is that better or the
eternal gardens of paradise promised to the careful ones?" It is their reward and
destination. They will have everything they want in them and stay there forever,
and that is the true promise of lord.

And on the day when he gathers them and those whom they serve beside God, he will
say: "Did you mislead these servants or did they go astray on their own?" They will
say: "Glory to you, it is not fitting for us to have a protector except you, but
you gave them and their fathers to enjoy themselves, until they forgot to remind
themselves and became a ruined nation." They think that what they are being told is
false, although they will have no defense or any help, and whoever of you does evil
will experience a great punishment.

And no messenger was sent before you - without eating food and walking in the
markets. You are each other's temptation, so be patient, because lord sees it. And
those who do not hope to meet say: "Why are angels not sent to us or why do we not
see lord?" They became proud of themselves and oppose with great rebellion. And on
the day when they see angels, on that day sinners will not rejoice, and they will
say: "Forbidden and not allowed." And their deeds that they have done will be like
scattered dust.

The inhabitants of paradise on that day will be in the better place and better
resort. On that day the sky will be divided by clouds and angels will be sent down.
The power on that day will truly belong to the merciful, and it will be a difficult
day for the disbelievers. And on that day the evildoers will bite their hands,
saying: "Oh, I wish that I had followed the way of the messenger. Oh God, I wish
that I had not taken such as a friend. He turned me away from reminding after it
was revealed to me." And the devil always deserts man.

And the messenger said: "Lord, my people rejected the Quran." And so are the
sinners designated as enemies to every messenger, and the lord is a sufficient
guide and helper. And those who don't believe say: "Why wasn't the Quran revealed
all at once?" And it is published like this gradually to strengthen you and it is
arranged in such a way that it is separated into parts. They will not give you any
examples - without being given the truth and best explanation. And those who will
be gathered in hell on their faces - such are in worse position and have strayed
from the path.

And Moses was given the book and his brother Aaron was appointed as his emissary.
So they were told: "Go to the people who think that my signs are false" - and then
afterwards they were destroyed with total destruction. And Noah's people thought
that their messenger was false, so they were later drowned and made as a sign for
people, and a painful punishment was prepared for the evildoers. And Ad, and Semud,
and Rasi settlers, and many generations in between. And examples were given to all
of them and they were all destroyed afterwards.

And aren't they passing by the city on which the rain of misfortune fell? Didn't
they see it? On the contrary, they do not expect the resurrection. And when they
see you, they take you for nothing but as an object of ridicule: "Is this the one
whom God sent as the messenger? He almost led us astray from our gods - if only we
had not patiently remained with them." And they will get to know when they see the
punishment: who has strayed from the path. Have you seen those who take their own
passion for god? So are you their supervisors? Or do you think most of them want to
hear and understand? On the contrary, they are like cattle and have strayed even
further from the path.

Don't you see the shadows that lord expands, and if he wanted to, he could have
made them immobile? And he made the sun to be their guide and then to draw them to
itself little by little. He is the one who arranged the night to be your cover and
sleep to be your rest, and he arranged the day to raise you up again. It is he who
sends winds that bring glad tidings before his grace and then sends down pure water
from heaven: with which he resurrects dead earth, and that it may also be the drink
for creatures he has created, for cattle and people in great numbers. And this is
what they are told to remind them, but most people are nothing but unfaithful, and
if he wants he can send reminders to every city. So do not follow disbelievers, but
fight against them with a great battle.

And he is the one who arranged two seas, one refreshing and drinkable, while the
other is salty and burning, and between them he placed the barrier and an
insurmountable obstacle. He is the one who created man from liquid and arranged for
him family and marriage ties, for the lord is powerful. And instead of God, they
serve those who cannot benefit or harm them, because the disbelievers are their
helpers against lord. And you are not sent except to make them happy and to remind
them. Say: "I do not ask you any reward for this, except that it guides whoever
wills to take the path to the lord."

And put your trust in the living one who does not die and glorify him with praise,
and he is aware of the sins of his servants. He who created the heavens and the
earth and what is between them in six days, and then established the throne - the
merciful one, so ask about him those who are aware. And when it is said to them:
"Bow down to the merciful." They say: "And who is the merciful? Shall we bow down
just because you command us?" And that increases their aversion. Blessed is he who
arranged the constellations in the heavens and arranged in them the lamp and
shining moon. He is the one who arranged the night and the day to follow each other
for those who want to remember and want to be thankful.

And servants of the merciful one are those who walk on the earth humbly and when
the ignorant address them, they answer them: "Peace." And they spend the night in
front of lord bowing down and standing, and saying: "Lord, remove from us the
punishment of hell, because it is a ceaseless punishment. It is an evil place and
abode." And those who, when they spend, are neither wasteful nor stingy, but
moderate in between. And those who do not call upon any other god besides God, and
do not kill people because God has forbidden it, except when justice requires it,
and who do not commit fornication, and those who do this, have committed the
transgression and therefore their punishment will be doubled on the day of
resurrection and they will remain in it disgraced.

Except those who repent and believe, and do good deeds. For them, God will change
their bad deeds into good ones, for God is forgiving and merciful. And those who
repent and do good deeds, such have repented to God with sincere repentance. And
those who do not bear false witness, and when they pass by ugly speech, they pass
with honor. And those who, when they remember the signs of lord, do not turn away
from them, deaf and blind. And those who say: "Lord, grant us from our wives and
descendants consolation for our eyes and make us leaders of the careful ones." They
will be rewarded with high palaces because they have been patient and they will be
greeted with peace. They will stay in them forever, and it is the good settlement
and abode. Say: "Your lord would not mind about you, except for your prayers, and
since you think it is the lie, you will be held accountable for it."
