Jan Kevin H. Carimat BSN 2B other traveling south at 70 mph.

At what
time will they be 500 miles apart?
1. Anne has a certain amount of money in
her bank account on Friday morning. During Step 1: Values
the day, she wrote a check for Php28.50, Car 1: 80 mph
made an ATM withdrawal of Php80 and Car 2: 70 mph
deposited a check for Php225. At the end of Distance = 500 miles
the day, she saw that her balance was Time = t (hours)
Php461.25. How much money did she have
in the bank at the beginning of the day?
Step 1: Values Step 2: Placing Values. Using formula of
finding the speed.
Given
28.50 issued a check Speed = Distance/time
80 withdraw money (80+70) = 500/3.33
225 deposited a check
461.50 money left
Find: Money beginning of the day Step 3: Plan

Step 2: Placing Values Rewrite the whole formula since we are

looking for the time.
X = money in the morning
withdraw money = - 80 pesos Time = distance/speed
issued a check = -28.50 pesos t = 500/150
deposited a check = +225 pesos t = 3.33 hours

Step 3: Plan Step 4: Check

X – 28.50 – 80 + 225 = 461.50 150 = 500/3.33

X = 461.50 – 225 + 28.50 + 80 150 = 150
X = 344.75 pesos
Step 4: Check
344.75 – 28.50 – 80 + 225 = 461.25
461.25 = 461.25
(equal)
