LSMW
What is LSMW?
• LSMW stands for Legacy System Migration Workbench – ECC.
• It is a tool use in SAP to transfer data from Non SAP to SAP System.
• The Main function of SAP LSMW tool are as follows,
o Import Data – Data in Spreadsheet tables (or) sequential files.
o Export Data – Converts the from source format to target format.
o Legacy Data – Converts data into target format to upload data.
Sections & Steps in LSMW
• Normally in LSMW total 13 steps will involve in data upload process.
• But we differed into 2 sections.
o Record the LSMW
o Data Upload through LSMW
Section 1: Record the LSMW
1. Maintain Object Attributes
2. Maintain Source Structure
3. Maintain Source Fields
4. Maintain Structure Relations
5. Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules

Section 2: Data Upload through LSMW
1. Specify Files (step 7 in LSMW)
2. Assign Files (step 8 in LSMW)
3. Read Data (step 9 in LSMW)
4. Display Read Data (step 10 in LSMW)
5. Convert Data (step 11 in LSMW)
6. Display Converted Data (step 12 in LSMW)
7. Create Batch Input Session (step 13 in LSMW)
8. Run Batch Input Session (step 14 in LSMW)

Section – 1 Record the LSMW
• Under this heading we will record the fields and T code to be uploaded.
• Go to T Code LSMW
• Enter Project, Sub – Project, Object, and next click on create icon.
• In Next screen click on continue.
• Again Click on Create New and enter descriptions and next click on continue & Execute.

• Then system will display the 14steps.
Step 1 – Maintain Object Attributes
• System will select first step and then click on Execute.
• In Next screen click on Display → Change
• Select Batch Input Recording and then click on Recording Overview Icon (Mountain
Icon)

• Then Click on Create New.
• Give Recording, Description and then click on Continue.
• Enter the Transaction Code for which data you’re uploading.
• Now enter the fields of Vendor.

• After entering the data, system will display below and in below screen click on Default
All.
• Now click on Save and then click on Back.
• Go to Recording Field and then click on List Icon, then system will take Recording Name,
save it.

Step 2 – Maintain Source Structure
• After entering all the fields then system will select Step 2 Automatically and then click
on Object Overview.
• Then select Table.
• Then select and copy all the fields and then paste it in New Excel File in your system.

• In Excel, change the Chars as C & Length as 30 (As 30 is highest one).
• Copy the fields, open new sheet in excel and paste all the fields in Transpose Method.
• Enter the data according to the fields.
• Now copy the entered data and paste that data in Text File.
• Save text file in system.
• Now go back to SAP.
• Go back to steps, select second step and click on Execute.

• Click on Display → Change.
• Click on New.
• Give Source Structure and Description, save. Go back then system will select Step 3
Automatically.
Step 3 – Maintain Source Fields
• Execute Step – 3.

• Click on Display → Change.
• Select Source Structure and then click on Table Maintenance.
• Now copy the fields in Excel and then Paste in SAP, enter & save.
• Save and go back, system will select Step 4 Automatically.
Step 4 – Maintain Source Fields
• Execute Step – 4.

• Click on Display → Change.
• Double click on Source Structure.
• Click on Continue & save.
Step 5 – Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules
• Execute Step 5.
• Click on Display → Change.

• Then go to Menu Bar → Extras and select Auto Field Mapping.
• Click on Continue.

• Click on Accept Proposal till we get Auto Field Mapping Complete message.

• Save and go back.
• Skip the step 6.
Data Upload
Step 7 – Specify Files
• Execute Step 7.
• Click on Display → Change.

• Double click on Legacy Data.
• In Next Screen Upload File, Give Name, Activate Tabulator and then click on Continue.
• File is uploaded save it and go back.

Step 8 – Assign Files
• Execute Step 8.
• Click on Display → Change.
• Double click on Source Structure Name.
• Click on Continue & save.

Step 9 – Assign Files
• Execute Step 9.
• Click on Execute.
• Check and go back.

Step 10 – Display Read Data
• Execute Step 10.
• Click Continue.
• Check Content and go back.

• Execute Step 11.
• Click on Execute.
• Check data and go back.

• Execute Step 12.
• Click Continue.
• Check Contents and Go back.

• Execute Step 13.
• Activate Check Box and click on Execute.
• Continue.

Step 14 – Run Batch Input Session
• Execute Step 13.
• Select Session Line and click on Process.
• Now select Display Errors Only & Expert Mode and then click on Process.

• If Data Uploaded Successfully, system will display below popup and then click on
Session Overview.
Check Data
• Now we can check the data which we have uploaded in MKVZ.
