Through varied activities, the grade 3 students are expected to do the following with at least 80%
accuracy:
a. Recognize one of a whole
b. Show one part of a whole
c. Share with other

2. Discussion
Now, we will define the fraction (The students are attentively listening)
FRACTION-is a part of a whole.

I have here another illustration

There are 2 equal parts


1 part is shaded, which is called
one half is (½)

So, as you can see, these examples are divided


(Pupils are attentively listening)
equally.

One part of 4 equally divided parts is ¼

One part of 2 equally divided parts is ½

3. Generalization
So based on our discussion, how do you
define fraction class?

Roda: Teacher fraction is a part of a whole


Ok! very good!

A Fraction is a number that is not a whole


number
A fraction is part of a whole.
4. Application
Group activities:

Now lets us have a group activity


Pupils: Yes sir!
I will group you into 3 groups consisting of
10 pupils.

I will give you 5mins for this activity


You can now start class... Pupils: Yes sir

The activity:
Color the part being asked for. And identify the
fraction of each circle and do this exercise on
your paper.
