Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct
answer to each of the questions.
When studying for important exams, you can expect to sit for hours at a time in order to learn
everything you need to be well-prepared and achieve success. And to do this, you may find it useful to know
what you can do study for long hours without losing too much mental energy and focus.
Your energy level do not stay the same throughout the day. This is why it is a good idea to schedule
your study sessions in a way that matches your energy changes. In general, learners are most mentally active
and ready to absorb complex pieces of knowledge during the morning, so you may want to deal with
challenging topics during these hours. For the same reason, save easier ones and non-academic activities for
the afternoon and evening if possible. Of course, not everyone is the same, so feel free to work on difficult
material at a time that works for you.
It’s also important to eat in a way that will not deplete your energy. This means you should eat more
foods with a low Glycemic Index (like fruits, yogurt or nuts) which release sugar slowly into your blood, helping
you maintain energy for longer. On the contrary, foods with high Glycemic Index like chips, chocolate,
hamburgers, and sugary drinks should be avoided – your energy may rise quickly when you eat them, but they
will start to fall just as fast, leading to tiredness and sleepiness.
Finally, do not forget to take breaks. Normally, our ability to concentrate starts to weaken after about 50
minutes, so if you keep trying to study without stopping, you are only wasting time because you are doing it
with less and less concentration. Therefore, give yourself 5 to 15 minutes to do other things like listening to
some relaxing music or even doing some exercise, as this has been proved to improve attention and
motivation.

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct
answer to each of the questions

Human beings are naturally creative. But sometimes we struggle with getting started and find
inspiration for new ideas. Thankfully, whether you are going to write a novel or compose a song, there are
some effective methods you can use to enhance and maintain your creativity.

To begin with, if you want to generate a lot of good ideas more often, you need to expose yourself to
good ideas, and reading is a great way to do this. But notice that there are two different approaches. An
efficiency-minded approach would seek out things that directly impact the area you want to improve. For
example, you will most likely read a business book if you want to improve your business. Meanwhile, a
creativity-minded approach would search across many areas and make connections. While it is hard for a single
idea to be original, the combination of a few different ideas is often unique. You can balance these approaches
by asking yourself whether it’s more important to have original ideas or useful ones. For useful, read direct. For
original, read broad.

Creative ideas often come when your attention is more relaxed and when your mind is wandering,
because it is often easier to associate more distant ideas in this state. However, this can become a problem
because often the moment of thinking of an idea is not the best time to work on it since you are not focused
enough. Thus, you should have a system to capture ideas when you have them. For instance, you can have a
small notebook and write down whatever ideas you suddenly think of so you will not forget and return to them
later. Similarly, you can also use a more elaborate setup like having specific subfolders for different types of
ideas. You might have a folder for quotes, concepts, or whatever other ideas you want to encounter in your
creative process.

One final point worth remembering is that creative acts generally require two different mindsets. The
first is a generative flow where you let ideas come to you easily and you don’t look at them too critically. The
advantage of this flow is that you create a lot of ideas, and the obvious downside is that a lot of them are bad.
The second is a critical flow, where you scrutinize the ideas you’ve made to spot every possible flaw and edit
them immediately. Of course, this mindset an often block you from thinking of new ideas because they get
rejected too quickly. It is helpful to be aware of these two mindsets so that you can actively and flexibly switch
between them depending on whether you need great quantity or high quality.
