INTRODUCTION
The parcel box project is a response to the increasing need for safe and easy package delivery
solutions in today's world of online shopping. With problems like missed deliveries and package theft
common with traditional methods, the project aims to offer a reliable solution. It provides extra security
features like lockable compartments or smart access control to keep delivered packages safe.
Additionally, it lets recipients pick up packages at their convenience, making the process more
convenient. By making delivery processes more efficient and reducing the need for multiple attempts,
it also helps delivery services. Overall, the parcel box project meets the changing needs of consumers
and delivery services by providing a complete solution for safe, easy, and eco-friendly package delivery
and pickup.
MATERIAL & METHOD
Material:
1. 2mm thickness of mild steel sheet
2. 1mm thickness of aluminium sheet.
Design Requirement:
1. The parcel box must have a lid to open and close the parcel box.
2. Use rivet to join the unmoving parts together and rivet with washer for joining moving part.
3. The parcel box must be painted.
Parcel Box Design:
1. Detailed Design with Dimension
• Parcel box lid
• Parcel box main body
• Parcel box back cover
• Parcel box bottom
2. 3D model of Parcel Box
PROCESS OF FABRICATION

Machine & Tools:
Guillotine Shearing Machine
1. The green button at the machine side was pressed to allow for machine to start.
2. The start button at the panel was pressed to start the machine.
3. The thickness of the metal sheet was set.
4. The length of the metal sheet to be cut was set.
5. The metal sheet was inserted into the machine and the pedal was pushed to cut the metal sheet.
Hydraulic Bending machine
1. The metal sheet thickness and the length of the area need to be bend were set and the
configuration was saved.
2. The “green engine” button in the control panel screen was touched until it turns to red to start
the hydraulic.
3. The “blue” button at control panel was pressed to show the “start key".
4. The “start key” button in the control panel screen was touched until the button turn red.
5. The “blue” button at control panel was pressed until the display turn green.
6. The pedal was pushed to start the bending.
Grinder
1. The start button was pressed and hold to start the grinder.
2. The grinder blade was aligned at the marked line.
3. The cutting line was cut until finished.
Cordless hand drill.
1. The drill bit was aligned to the marked location that needs to be drill.
2. The drill button was pressed slowly to make a center of the hole.
3. The hole was drilled by stopping for a moment and continue to avoid damaging the drill bit.
Hand Riveter
1. The rivet was inserted inside the riveter while in open position.
2. The rivet was put inside the hole and the riveter handle was pressed slowly.
3. The handle was open, and the riveter handle was pressed again slowly until the rivet “snap”.
PRODUCT ASSEMBLY
Joining method:
• The joining method will be mainly using rivet for fixed/ unmoving parts and for the moving
part like parcel box lid, the joining method will be using rivet but with addition of washer to
make sure the movement is not affected.
Problem encounter & solution:
• The back part of the parcel box which slightly overhangs the inside making the lid of the parcel
box unable to close completely. This can easily be solved by cutting the excessive overhang to
the match the main body shape.
• In the process of making the lid, the bending process becomes a little complex because the
metal that have been bend collide with each other. To encounter this, we bend the front first,
and then both sides.
RESULT
Final product after being assemble and painted.
CONCLUSION
There are several challenges that we faced during the fabrication. Firstly, random metal sheet
size and thickness make the bending process into desired shape is a bit tricky however it is still possible.
This is because we need to consider the thickness while measuring dimension that need to be bend
whether it will fit properly or not. However, the problem is not obvious when dealing with thinner metal
sheet. Other than that, the limitedness of metal sheet makes the progress a bit slower as we need to find
the metal sheet from any available source. After successfully overcome the challenge, we have
expectation that the parcel box can be functioning well and sturdy enough to accommodate the parcels.
However, our parcel box is still far from perfect because this parcel box still can be improved where
the anti-thief function could be added as the parcel box that we fabricate does not have any security
measure instead of just ordinary box with lid.
