FIRST HOLLY COMMUNION LITURGY

INTRODUCTORY RITES
COMMENTATOR: Good morning, my dear brothers and sisters,
Welcome o the First Holy Communion Liturgy.
PROCESSIONAL: First Communicants with parents
Teachers
(ONE LITTLE CANDLE SONG)
INTRODUCTION: Christ, the Living Bread of Life; Eucharist
What a precious gift we are to receive today in this Eucharist celebration!
It is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Living Bread of Life, who is
offering to us his very being. We know that the Eucharist or the Holy
Mass is the fulfillment of life in Communion with Jesus Christ. It is the
center of piece of the seven ritual sacraments and the source and the
summit of the whole Christian Life.
At the Last Supper, on the night He was betrayed, our Saviour instituted
the Eucharistic Sacrifice of His Body and Blood. This He did in order to
perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he comes
again. The Sacrament of Love is the Eucharistic or Communion which is
the memorial of Jesus’ death and resurrection; a sign of unity and a bond
of charity; a paschal banquet in which Christ is consumed; and a pledge
of future glory given to us.
May the significant moment remind us of the effects of receiving
communion. Let us pray that we will be united with Christ, liberated from
sin and reconciled with one another. And let us also continually ask for
the grace of God to joyfully and lovingly help build up a responsive and
responsible community; this is the Church-the Body of Christ.
PROCESSIONAL: Readers, Acolytes and the Priest.
COMMENTATOR: LET US ALL STAND AND SING THE
ENTRANCE HYMN.

ENTRANCE SONG
DIALOGUE WITH CHILDREN
Priest: The Lord fed his people with the finest honey; their hunger was
satisfied.
Priest: Dear children, you were born on earth as children of your parents.
A few days after your birth, you were brought to the church for baptism.
That was your second birthday, a few much greater than the first one
because in baptism, you were reborn as the children of your Father in
heaven. Today, our Lord God invites you for the first time to the family
table. You will eat the Bread from heaven - Jesus Himself.
Children, what do you really want to receive?
Children: We want to receive Jesus as food of our souls.
Priest: What will Jesus do to your souls?
Children: He will make us strong, obedient and joyful members of the
family.
Priest: If therefore, you want to live as true children of God, love and
serve Him with your whole heart and love neighbors as you love
yourselves.
Let us now Joyfully offer together the Holy Sacrifice of the
Mass.
Priest: In the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Greeting
Priest: The grace peace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and
the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
All: And with your spirit.

Penitential Act
I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that
I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have
done, in what I have failed to do.
(and striking their breast, they say)
through my fault
through my fault
through my grievous fault;
Therefore, I asked blessed Mary, ever Virgin, all the Angels and
Saints and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord, our
God.
All: Amen.
LORD HAVE MERCY SONG
Priest: Let us pray.
O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin
prepared a worthy dwelling for your Son, we pray, that, as you preserved
her from every stain by virtue of the Death of your Son, which you
foresaw, so, through her intercession, we, too, may be cleansed and
admitted to your presence. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who
lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever
and ever.
All: Amen.
COMMENTATOR: Let us all be seated and listen the Word of God.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading
Rey Angelo: A reading from the book of Acts.

While they were still talking to the people the priests came up to them,
accompanied by the captain of the Temple and the Sadducees.

They were extremely annoyed at their teaching the people the

resurrection from the dead by proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus.

They arrested them, and, as it was already late, they kept them in prison
till the next day.

But many of those who had listened to their message became believers;
the total number of men had now risen to something like five thousand.

It happened that the next day the rulers, elders and scribes held a meeting
in Jerusalem

with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, Jonathan, Alexander and all the
members of the high-priestly families.

They made the prisoners stand in the middle and began to interrogate
them, 'By what power, and by whose name have you men done this?'

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, addressed them, 'Rulers of the
people, and elders!

If you are questioning us today about an act of kindness to a cripple and

asking us how he was healed,

you must know, all of you, and the whole people of Israel, that it is by the
name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, and God raised
from the dead, by this name and by no other that this man stands before
you cured.

This is the stone which you, the builders, rejected but which has become
the cornerstone. Only in him is there salvation;
for of all the names in the world given to men, this is the only one by
which we can be saved.'

All: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

Gio Christoff: Alleluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, for his
faithful love endures for ever.

Let the House of Israel say, 'His faithful love endures for ever.'

Let those who fear Yahweh say, 'His faithful love endures for ever.'

The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;

This is Yahweh's doing, and we marvel at it.

This is the day which Yahweh has made, a day for us to rejoice and be
glad.

We beg you, Yahweh, save us, we beg you, Yahweh, give us victory!

Blessed in the name of Yahweh is he who is coming! We bless you from

the house of Yahweh.

Yahweh is God, he gives us light. Link your processions, branches in

hand, up to the horns of the altar.

COMMENTATOR: Please all rise to honor the Holy Gospel.

Verse before the Gospel: Repent, says the Lord; the Kingdom of heaven
is at hand.
Gospel
Priest: The Lord be with you.
All: And with your spirit.
Priest: A reading from Holy Gospel according to Mark.
All: Glory to you, O Lord.
Priest: One of the scribes came to Jesus and ask Him, “Which is the first
of all the commandments?” Jesus replied, “The first is this: Hear, O
Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your
God with all your heart, with all your soul; with all your mind, and with
all your strength. The second is this: “You shall love your neighbor as
yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” The scribe
said to him, “Well said, teacher. You are right is saying, he is One and
there is no other than He. And to love Him with all your heart, with all
your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbors as
yourself is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. “And when
Jesus saw that he answered with understanding, he said to him, “You are
not far from the Kingdom of God. “And no one dared him any more
questions.

The Gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you, Oh Lord, Jesus Christ.

took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples
saying: “TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THI IS
MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.”
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and once
more giving thanks, he gave it to His disciples saying: “TAKE THIS,
ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE
CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND
