How to Create Asset in SAP FIORI

What is it ?
In SAP, an asset refers to a tangible or intangible resource holding value to the company. Assets are
tracked within the Asset Accounting module (FI-AA) for their entire lifecycle, from acquisition to
disposal.
Here are some key aspects of Asset Accounting in SAP:
Asset Master Data: Creation and maintenance of detailed information about each asset, including
description, acquisition date, location, and depreciation details.
Acquisition: Recording how assets are acquired, whether through purchase, self-construction, or
other methods.
Depreciation Calculation: Automatic calculation and posting of depreciation based on predefined
parameters.
Reporting: Asset Accounting integrates with General Ledger Accounting, providing a holistic view of
the company's assets and their financial impact in reports.

key concept
Fixed Assets
These are long term tangible assets such as buildings, machinery, vehicles and equipments.
Asset Master Record
The asset is represented by asset master record, which contains detailed information about the
asset such as its description, acquisition date, acquisition cost, depreciation method…
Asset Classes
Assets are grouped into asset classes, which categorize assets with similar characteristic and
accounting requirement.
Depreciation
The process of allocating the cost of a tangible asset over its useful life.

Log on to the SAP FIORI launchpad as an Asset Accountant.
Open Create Asset (AS01)

Choose Create - Master Data.
Make the following entries:
Post-capitalization: <Only required if you want to use this master record to post a post-capitalization>
A reference asset master data can be used. If this is need the asset to be used as reference should be entered in Asset Main Number under section Reference.
Press Enter.
