Section 1: Review
This course has been an amazing experience for me for a number of reasons, coming into it I found that
I was extremely nervous as I was one of the older students and I just felt that I was too old to be there or
thought that because I was older I had to of had more experience in this field already, I found myself
comparing my abilities to others and felt as though I needed to compete with those around me as after
all it’s a competitive field but through this course I have found that everyone around me wants to see me
succeed, I have found friendships and the ability to share without fear of failure or embarrassment and
just to try my hardest and learn from my mistakes. Now besides the emotion connections I have found in
this curse I have also developed a range of skill which will help me in my steps moving forward for a
career in acting, I have done directing learning the most effective ways of talking an actor through your
vision, I have learned to devise and let myself play in a rehearsal room to come up with the most
creative ways of telling a story, I have learned the importance of eye contact while doing screen acting
and how much patience is needed while on set and how to maintain the same emotion for each take,
and I have written and filmed my own short film which was an entirely new experience for me,, it was
interesting to watch an idea turn into a complete creation.
Section 2: Project Concept
Our fmp is little shop of horrors which is a musical in which we see a man discover an unusual plant
which brings him fame and success however may eventually lead to his demise. It’s a really fun show
that has been done thousands of times in the past and I think that it’s something that could do with
being refreshed, were playing with genderbending in this show which means accommodating to
pronouns in the text and songs and also playing with the number of Ronettes, rather than having the
famous three we have turned them into a larger group with contrasting energy. We are also not setting it
in the 60s as it usually is done and rather not setting in in a particular time at all, the ambiguity of it
makes us able to play with costume and the set and the way the music is sung with much more
freedom. Working with me create the visuals for Audrey 2 is also something that I look forward to as it’s
an opportunity to really be creative and use props and the space around us. Going into the rehearsal
room for intensives I’m ready to keep an open mind and trust the process of the creatives on boards.
Section 3: Evaluation
Moving forward into intensive rehearsals I plan on keeping a notebook on me at all times to analyze and
reflect on my journey day by day I find this to help me understand my mistakes I may have made and
how to grow from the as the process moves on. I find that when I’m in a rehearsal room sometimes I
can get quite worked up and overwhelmed and frustrated so having an escape where I can write down
all of my feeling at the time helps to relax , also I find it quite interesting to look back on what I felt then
and see how my perspective had changed once I had given myself some time, this will all become very
helpful for me when doing my final reflection as I will be able to backlog every thought I had through the
process. Also I am aware that is going to be an extremely collaborative journey especially for me as my
role is part of a group and I’m aware that sometimes I become unheard when working as a group so to
overcome that and to not miss out on sharing my ideas I will try my best to speak to Lydia privately and
let her know that sometimes I need to share my ideas one to one.
