RATIONALE
The expansion of urban areas brings about a surge in economic opportunities, yet it also
poses significant challenges in waste management in Sasa, Davao City, embodies this
dichotomy, brings significant economic opportunities but also presents complex challenges in
waste management. . This discrepancy underpins the importance of our seminar, aiming not
merely to address the symptoms of inadequate waste management but to tackle its root causes
through education and local engagement. Our initiative is crucial as it fosters an
understanding of the interconnected nature of our actions and their impacts on urban
ecosystems. By focusing on sustainable practices and waste segregation, we aim to instill a
sense of responsibility and empowerment among the residents and businesses of Sasa. The
seminar is designed to educate participants on effective waste management techniques that
cater specifically to the community's unique characteristics and needs.
The critical importance of education and empowerment is central to our conversation.
Residents, businesses, and local governments in Sasa are not passive viewers of their
surroundings, but rather active players in creating its future. We hope to build an
environmental stewardship culture through targeted education efforts and community
participation, in which every individual realizes their role in protecting the health and purity
of their surroundings. We empower participants to be change agents in their local
communities by providing them with the knowledge and tools they need to implement
sustainable waste management practices.
Furthermore, our seminar aims to go beyond the traditional bounds of waste management,
using a multidisciplinary approach that recognizes the interconnection of environmental,
social, and economic concerns. From breakthrough recycling technologies to grassroots
community mobilization, the solution to the area garbage problems is as varied as the
challenges themselves. By facilitating dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders from
various sectors, we hope to catalyze the emergence of contextually relevant and
environmentally sound synergistic solutions.
