Wish (v): mong, mong ước, ước, ước mơ

1. Khi nào dùng cấu trúc Wish?
- Cấu trúc Wish sử dụng khi người nói muốn diễn tả một mong muốn, một ước mơ nào đó
đến với mình hoặc đến với người khác.
2. Cách sử dụng cấu trúc Wish
* Type 1: Câu ước ở tương lai (Diễn tả một mong ước nào đó trong tương lai, hoặc dùng
hướng đến một điều tốt đẹp hay cũng có thể là điều khó có thể xảy ra, không khả thi trong
thực tế)
Form: S + Wish(es/ed) + S + would/ could + V-inf…
Ex: My mother wishes I would become a good lawyer in the future.
(Mẹ tôi ước tôi sẽ trở thành một luật sư giỏi trong tương lai)

* Type 2: Câu ước trái ngược với hiện tại (Diễn tả mong muốn trái ngược với hiện tại)
Form: S + wish(es/ed) + S + were/ V-QKĐ + …
Ex: Peter wishes he were very rich.
(Peter ước anh ấy rất giàu có)

* Type 3: Câu ước trái ngược với quá khứ (Diễn tả mong muốn trái ngược với quá khứ)
Form: S + wish(es/ed) S + could have/ had (not) + V3…
Ex: Hue wishes she had passed her exam.
(Huệ ước cô ấy đã vượt qua bài kiểm tra)

* Cấu trúc Wish dùng để gán hoặc đùn đẩy cho ai đó

Form: S + wish + somebody + (something) + on somebody.
Ex: My parents can wish me on my grandmother while they are away.
(Bố mẹ tôi có thể đùn đẩy tôi cho bà trong khi họ đi công tác)

* Cấu trúc Wish với mục đích đưa ra lời chúc, mong ước
Form: S + wish + somebody + something
Ex: I wish my family a Merry Christmas.
(Tôi cầu chúc gia đình của tôi có một giáng sinh tốt lành)

* LƯU Ý:
– Cấu trúc này không dùng ở thì hiện tại tiếp diễn.
– Cấu trúc Wish = If only: Dùng để nhấn mạnh hơn.
Ex: If only, Nam were a famous singer.
(Giá mà Nam là một ca sĩ nổi tiếng)
– Cấu trúc Wish có thể thay bằng cấu trúc Would rather (Giá mà).
Ex: I wish my score test were higher = I would rather my score test was higher.
(Tôi ước điểm bài kiểm tra của tôi cao hơn = Giá mà điểm bài kiểm tra của tôi cao
hơn)
