YOUNG MATHEMATICIANS’ ASSOCIATION

SPONSORSHIP CONCEPT NOTE FOR REMEDY CLASSES AND SCHOOL OUTREACH

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Having realized the numerous scientific phenomenon of our environment that whose
explanation we cannot find, the limit understanding of mathematics in our conventional
school careers and lack of practical concepts of thought, we deemed it fitting as a group to
motivate and coach students in dwelling in mathematics. The Young Mathematicians
association was founded by two young dynamic Gambian mathematicians on 25th December,
2013 gear towards helping students in The Gambia and the world at large.

The two young Gambians went through the education system of the Gambia and faced
almost all the challenges that a Gambian poor or middle class would face in the process of
schooling. They attended different school at different times on adjacent parts of the country.

During the times of their schooling, they never had the opportunity of private classes due to
family background. However, those challenges faced made them to think how to help in the
education system especially in the area of mathematics after they taught some years.

INTRODUCTION
The association was established purely to help students, boost the standard of mathematics
and make students to like mathematics. It is well understood that mathematics is not a
friend to many, but with (YMA) we made people to like it and improve on it and even major
and minor it at their university level.

At the time of start, we had 25 members but the number keep growing to 275 as of now.
Many passed through it until they are able to major and minor mathematics in different
universities.

With all that, the association is absolutely depending on the intervals of the monthly dues of
the members. All our programs are run from the monthly contribution of the members.
