PHYSICS PRACTICAL INSTRUCTIONS

Great care should be taken that the information given below does not reach
the candidates either directly or indirectly.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING APPARATUS


The candidates will be instructed not to write out a detailed description of the
apparatus. But the teacher responsible for preparing the apparatus must give
details (on the report form attached) about some of the items of apparatus
he/she has supplied. The form should be signed by the invigilator, the teacher
responsible for preparing the apparatus and the Head teacher.

N.B: The head teacher must ensure that the teacher responsible for preparing
the apparatus hands in his /her trial results properly sealed in the separate
envelope and firmly fastened (attached) to the candidates’ scripts envelope (s)

In addition to the apparatus ordinarily contained in the physics laboratory, each candidate will
require:
Question 1
1 Retort stand with 2 clamps
1 spring of length about 3cm with a pointer
2 small wooden pieces
1 100g mass
1 stop clock or stop watch
2 metre rules
1 piece of thread about 50.0cm long
1 piece of thread about 120.0cm long
1 pendulum bob
Question 2
1 glass block with its width / breath recorded measuring about 11.5 by 6.5 by 1.8cm
1 soft board
3 optical pins
2 plain sheets of paper
1 well equipped mathematical set
1 Vernier caliper
4 thumb pins

Question 3

1 voltmeter (0-3v)
1 ammeter (0-1A)
1, 2 Ω resistor
1 double cell holder
1 switch labelled ‫ܭ‬ଶ
1 switch labelled ‫ܭ‬ଵ
1 galvanometer
1 potentiometer wire slide
1 jockey
1 metre rule
12 connecting wires each about 50cm long
1 rheostat
1 Constantine wire labelled W about 100 cm long
2 crocodile clips
2 pieces of cello tape
2 dry cells each in a cell holder
