Study planning for Zhejiang University of Science and Technology Architecture scholarship

I am Freya Ayu Salwa, a Bachelor of Architecture student at Yogyakarta State

University. I am an active student on campus. Both active in the organization and active in
learning. The mandatory subject taught at the University is the history and development of
Indonesian and world Architecture. Architectural Design Methods, Architectural Elements
Workshop, Building Physics, and Building Materials. My university often invites foreign
lecturers and well-known Architects to hold seminars. With this seminar, I think that the world
of Architects is very wide. I started studying very seriously and well, until I got good grades in
the first year. With my ability to adapt easily, I have good connections with lecturers and
seniors.
I am the first class majoring in Architecture because this department is a new major
at my University. The lecturers are still adjusting to the existing schedule. Therefore, the
Building Materials lecturer entrusted me as a lecturer’s assistant. Currently I have been a
lecturer’s assistant for almost a year. My duties as a lecturer’s assistant were to assist in
lecture activities such as supporting research, preparing lecture schedules, assisting
lecturers in assessing student work results. Sometimes I also prepare material for lecturers
to make presentations. When I became a lecturer’s assistant I gained a lot of experience, I
was also able to understand the characteristics of the lecturers, gain a wide network, and
gain material experience.
Apart from being active in learning activities, I am also active in organizations. I
joined organizations such as the "Student Exclusive Body". In this organization I am the
secretary of the Action and Propaganda division. The duties of this division are quite related
to the Architecture department. Many students complain about the building facilities on
campus. With these complaints, I feel happy because I can learn about mistakes in building
construction and I can also train my thinking to find solutions to these construction problems.
I also joined the "Indonesian Leadership School" organization. In this organization I am the
treasurer, I can handle tens of millions of money in this organization. The bureaucracy and
the head of the organization really trust me, that's why they chose me to be treasurer. As
long as I have been treasurer, I have always been firm in financial matters, because I am a
responsible person if entrusted with it. Many people like the way I act as treasurer, that's the
reason many other organizations want to recruit me to be treasurer at every event.
"The thirst for knowledge is what makes me a person who loves learning. I always
want to get a higher education. The reason I want to major in Architecture is that I really
want to contribute to the country, I want to take part in the development of the country by
becoming a successful Architect. I want to Being an Architect who pays attention to nature
and culture, can create modern buildings by minimizing harmful effects on human health and
the environment, without eliminating the characteristics of existing culture. The reason is
because our earth is getting older and there is a lot of air pollution caused by buildings. The
development of the existing cultural era is also increasingly disappearing. Therefore, there is
a need for Architects who are able to unite nature and culture.
I live in Indonesia. Many areas of Indonesia are still very rich in culture, one of which
is the city of Yogyakarta. This city is led by Descendants of the palace, to respect the
existing culture, this leader returned the city of Jogja to a Traditional city. Like buildings that
cannot be tall, buildings that cannot be luxurious. This leader also turned the city center
square into a stretch of sand. The reason is because this leader is afraid that Yogyakarta will
be influenced by foreign culture and lose its old culture. This is a problem for an Architect,
because in general Architects follow technological developments. But we cannot apply
technological developments in the city of Yogyakarta. As a prospective Architect, I am very
motivated by building buildings in the city of Chongqing, China. The Architecture there is
very Modern but also Traditional without losing the existing culture. I chose China to be my
study country because I wanted to bring the name of Indonesian cultural buildings to China. I
want to show that I can make a Modern city without eliminating the old culture.
To make my dream come true, I chose Zhejiang University of Science and
Technology in China. Because this University has developed into a first-class application-
oriented University with distinctive international and regional characteristics. Upholding the
motto "Benevolence and Truth, Creativity and Practicality", ZUST has long been committed
to establishing a new modern applied University of the German model with Chinese
characteristics, adhering to the educational concept of "applying what we have learned and
carrying out all-round development" to form "the cradle of outstanding engineers", where
educational reforms and practices continue to be actively carried out to cultivate high-quality
applied talents with practical ability, innovation spirit, international vision and social
responsibility. If I can enter this university, I will study to become a talented Architect with a
higher international vision, noble ethics, and reasonable composition. Of course, I will also
continue the active student attitude that many people like.
My dream is not just a dream. My dream will come true, and that's the fact. I cannot
realize my dreams without a good education. So I need Zhejiang University of Science and
Technology in China to help me realize my dream. And I am very confident, I am the right
candidate to join studying at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology
