Motivation
Maria's Seasons
In the Cordillera hills, Maria, a young Igorot girl,
lived with nature. Each season had its own safety
needs. In hot summers, Maria wore a wide hat to
shield her from the sun while harvesting in the
field. She wears loose clothes that kept her cool as
she worked in the fields.
During rainy times, Maria helped keep water away
from their fields. She wore thick, waterproof clothes and carried a strong
umbrella to stay dry made from dried coconut leaves. In cold stormy days,
Maria stayed warm by the fire inside their house. She wore layers of cozy
clothes and ate hot soup cooked by her mother. Maria and her community
respected nature's power. They prayed for its protection. With wisdom
and care, they lived happily ever after.
1. During sunny day, what did Maria wear to become
comfortable?
2. When it is rainy and stormy day, what are you going to eat?
