The psalmist David is a good example of the heart that a worshiper should
possess, his psalms and writings express much love, they express a grateful heart,
and they express a man who loved God above all things.
As we well know, David was a man who went through very, very difficult
circumstances in his life and in every situation that he had to go through, even if it
was negative, David cried out to God and recognized his heavenly greatness, the
humbled heart he had. David is worthy of admiration.
It is very difficult to find a person at this time who has a heart like David's, it truly
seems to me that he had a heart that worshiped in spirit and in truth.
Many Christians, at this time, still tend to confuse the meanings of praise and
worship, they associate it most of the time with songs, they come to think that fast
songs are praise and slow songs are worship, but today let's study more these
concepts in depth.
A proprietary definition of praise by Dr. Derek Prince is “Praise is offered to God for
who He is and what He does in general…Praise is verbal, it is spoken.” (Derek
Prince, taken from Secrets of a Prayer Warrior).
Now let's see what the definition of Worship is, prepared by the same author,
“Worship is not singing hymns or choruses, worship is not a declaration of the
attributes of God. Verbal expression has to do with praise…worship has to do with
our attitude.” (Derek Prince, from a prayer warrior).
I. RECOGNIZE THE VIRTUES OF GOD.
Advertisements
As Doctor Derek Prince explains, through the concept of praise, it is the process by
which we recognize the virtues of our God, we praise him for who he is and what
he does, through praise we come and recognize his power, His greatness, who is
He, the only God, who is the savior, the judge, the legislator, the father, his
majesty, we recognize and proclaim every attribute that He has.
II. ATTITUDE
Doctor Derek Prince also mentions that worship has to do with the attitude of the
heart of man, but in order to understand it we must look for a definition of attitude
we find the following:
According to the RAE, Attitude is the state of mind that is expressed in a certain
way, two other definitions refer to the posture of a person's body (when it transmits
something effectively or when the posture is associated with the emotional
disposition) or an animal (when it manages to obtain attention for some issue).
Worship has to do with this mentioned above, for example, when I worship, I do it
with an attitude of total gratitude and I adopt a posture according to how I feel, I
choose to raise my hands, bow my face, we can also worship with an attitude of
repentance, and generally the posture that comes from your heart when
Worshiping God is to kneel, do you understand me?
IV. THE POWER OF WORSHIP AND PRAISE
Advertisements
Now, let's understand praise and worship even deeper, let's see what the Bible
mentions:
Exodus 26:33 « You will hang the veil under the clasps, and you will put there,
behind the veil, the ark of the testimony; and the veil will serve as a division
between the holy place and the most holy place ."
Exodus 27:9 « He also made the atrium; On the south side, at south, the curtains of
the court were a hundred cubits long, of twined linen .
When we go to the writings of Moses we find the tabernacle, this was a tent to
worship God, it was an idea from God given to Moses himself, and he did as
Jehovah commanded him and raised the tabernacle of meeting, which was divided
into an atrium , holy place, most holy place.
The word tabernacle means dwelling, God established the tabernacle to dwell
among us and it becomes a representation of what is in heaven, it represents that
path to the presence of God, the goal of getting closer to the father.
The psalmist David said in Psalms 63:1 “ God, you are my God; At dawn I will look
for you; My soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you, In a dry and arid land where
there is no water «; that is, the flesh longs for God, the soul thirsts, and Isaiah says
that his spirit would seek God ( Isaiah 26:9 ), and in the writings of Moses: We can
see that the court represents the flesh, the holy place the soul, and the most holy
place the spirit.
In other words, longing takes us to the court, thirst takes us to the holy place, and
seeking takes us to the most holy place. And so that you understand it a little
better, we can mention the following: in the atrium only your mouth speaks, in the
holy place your soul speaks, but in the most holy place your spirit speaks, and this
last is our goal and we can reach it. to her through worship and praise.
In the Bible we find different characters who conquered and were protected
because they worshiped and praised God, among them is the story of Josaphat,
this man was king of two tribes of Israel, and three different countries came to
attack him, but he immediately went to God and supports it, Jehoshaphat only sent
his people to worship and praise God while that was happening. Jehovah himself
fought the battle for them, making the three of them fight among themselves, and
when the Israelites arrived at the place, the enemies were already dead. We can
find this story in the book of 2 Chronicles 20 .
We have David who, when he had battles where he was surrounded by his
enemies, immediately cried out and praised God; Many of his psalms were written
and inspired at those times and he won the battles, in one of his psalms he says: "
Bless the Lord, my soul, and forget not any of his benefits ," ( Psalms 103:2 ). The
psalmist knew the benefits of worshiping and praising God.
Conclusion
With all this I want to tell you that worship and praise connect us with God, and
through it we conquer great things, we are changed, we are renewed, we are
satisfied, restored among other things.
Today you must evaluate with what attitude you enter the presence of God, do you
feel obligated or do you do it because it comes from your heart?
Have you ever approached God with an attitude of gratitude or do you always
approach God with a selfish attitude where you only think about yourself and what
you want for yourself, you only ask?
The psalmist said: " Enter his doors with thanksgiving and hymns of praise "
Psalms 100:4 (NIV). God will always delight in your worship, and rejoice in your
praise. Let's give Him the best, because He always gives us the best.
1. TO WORSHIP IS TO SEEK GOD ( Vers. 1)
Come: we cannot say that we love someone if we never have time to seek to be
with that person, we have to understand that God is everywhere, but my worship is
to have time to come to his house, to his church to learn from his word and exalt
his name.
2. TO WORSHIP IS TO COME WITH AN ATTITUDE OF JOY ( Vers. 1 B )
A. Worshiping God is not just about coming, but how do we come? We have to
understand that our God doesn't just look at the product, he cares about the
process.
B. That is to say that it is not only about coming and fulfilling, it is about coming
with joy, with joy to the presence of God.

3. WORSHIP IS MORE THAN JUST ASKING (Vers. 2)
TO. The verse says come to his presence with songs, but unfortunately many Christians
come to his presence only with requests, only with complaints, we come to his presence
only to see what we receive.
b. Praise softens the heart of the believer and also the heart of our God.
4. TO WORSHIP IS TO RECOGNIZE THAT GOD IS A GREAT KING (Vers. 3)
We worship God when we put all our trust in him and not in men, when we recognize his
power and greatness.
SHORT OUTLINE: LET'S LEARN WHAT IT IS TO WORSHIP
TOPIC: LET'S LEARN WHAT IT IS TO WORSHIP
TEXT: PSALM 95:1-8
INTRODUCTION
What is worship? According to the dictionary, worship means contemplating or
admiring the wonders and greatness of God.
But we have to understand that worship is more than a concept, worship is the
attitude of our life, of our heart towards God.
What then does it mean to worship God? Will it just be singing choruses? Will
worship only be an exclusive topic for people who have the talent to sing or play a
musical instrument? The answer is no, in Psalm 95 we find what are the attitudes
that a Christian has to have in his life to worship our God:
1. TO WORSHIP IS TO SEEK GOD (VS 1)
Come: we cannot say that we love someone if we never have time to seek to be
with that person, we have to understand that God is everywhere, but my worship is
to have time to come to his house, to his church to learn from him. word and exalt
his name.
1. TO WORSHIP IS TO COME WITH AN ATTITUDE OF JOY (VS 1B)
Worshiping God is not just about coming, but how do we come? We have to
understand that our God doesn't just look at the product, he cares about the
process.
That is to say that it is not only about coming and fulfilling, it is about coming with
joy, with joy to the presence of God.
• WORSHIP IS MORE THAN JUST ASKING (VS 2)
The verse says come to his presence with songs, but unfortunately many
Christians come to his presence only with requests, only with complaints, we come
to his presence only to see what we receive.
Praise softens the heart of the believer and also the heart of our God.
1. TO WORSHIP IS TO RECOGNIZE THAT GOD IS A GREAT KING (VS 3)
We worship God when we put all our trust in him and not in men, when we
recognize his power and greatness.

Biblical Sketches.. Preaching Outlines
Introduction:
The scribes and Pharisees spoke very piously and elegantly, but Jesus called them
“hypocrites.” The Greeks were distinguished by their knowledge and excellent
ability to express themselves, but they mocked the gospel.
Peter and the others promised to give their lives for Jesus, but the night they
arrested him and then crucified him, everyone abandoned him. True worship is
born in a simple and faithful heart, it is one that recognizes that without God
nothing is...
THE HEART OF A WORSHIPER
Advertisements
I. ITS CHARACTERISTICS ARE SPECIAL:
A. He is sensitive and obedient, Acts 8: 26-27a, 29.
Note: God could count on Philip, because he followed his instructions and was sensitive to
the voice of the Holy Spirit, “so he arose and went” he was an obedient servant. Although
he was directing a campaign with great results, God required him in another place (not so
beautiful, nor with so many people) Acts. 8:5-8, but the most important thing is always to
do the will of God.
B. He is strong and courageous, Acts 8:26-28a.
Note 1: Philip was in Samaria (a city in the north of Israel, and must descend to the “road
from Jerusalem to Gaza” (road to the south of Israel), we are talking about about 100 km of
travel, in addition God warns Philip because he tells him: “the road is desert.” God takes
care of us, even in the desert.
Note 2: The Ethiopian eunuch (Castrated male. Fact prohibited in Israel. The term came to
designate an official, whether physically a eunuch or not). He was a high official who
served as treasurer to the queen (Candace: name or title of the queen) of Ethiopia (a
country south of Egypt, which once had a powerful army).
He came from Ethiopia to Jerusalem to worship, his journey was approx. of 2,100 km
(equivalent to several days of travel). He occupied a place of privilege in the kingdom of
Ethiopia, and left his comforts in the kingdom to come to worship... because of his status
as a eunuch he could not enter the sanctuary, so in the Hebrew mind he was without
access to the presence of God. Thus, both of them overcame their respective obstacles to
worship God.
Advertisements
C. He is passionate about the Word of God, Acts 8:28.
Note: A sad statistic revealed that 80% of church leaders do not read the word of God.
Therefore, we must ensure that the church leadership has its daily devotional (intercession,
children's ministry, youth, praise...).
A worshiper is passionate about studying and reading the Bible. Let us remember that at
that time the books were not like the current ones, they were scrolls, and they were not
printed, that is why the job of the scribes (they were manuscripts, therefore expensive,
generally all the members of a synagogue agreed to buy a collection).
II. WORSHIP AND REVELATION:
1) Worship is determined by the level of revelation, Acts 8:30-31, 34-35.
Note: The question do you understand what you read? It is very interesting and current.
Philip becomes the teacher of the eunuch, the expressions “he begged Philip…” and then
“I beg you to tell me…” shows us his great desire to know, although he had come to
worship in Jerusalem, he did not know Jesus Christ the Lord.
Advertisements
8) Worship is inspired by the revelation of Christ, verses. 32-33.
Note: we can observe several things that inspire us here:
1) We worship him for his humiliation (God became man)
2) We worship him for his sacrifice (he shed his blood, he gave his life)
3) We adore him because he will return (he promised it and he will keep it)
III. OBEDIENCE IS THE ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION OF WORSHIP
A. The desire to obey leads us to overcome obstacles, vrs. 36-37.
Note: The word “impediment” here means obstacles, reasons for not doing it. But his
desire to obey God, before the revelation of Jesus Christ, led him to action immediately,
worship goes beyond words, or good motives, a worshiper obeys his God.
B. Obedience will take us to new levels, vs. 38-40.
Note: Philip had never had that experience before, although it was used in miracles, this
one was new, it was transposed ("raptured" is the same Greek term used for the rapture of
the church), it appeared in Azotus, a town about 30 kms from where I was. The eunuch
experienced a joy he had never had before.
According to tradition, many in his country were converted by his preaching, and there is
information about a church in Ethiopia that he promoted. The heavenly Father also rejoices
when his children obey him, because when Jesus was baptized, the father said: “This is
my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased,” (PDT) “and a voice from heaven said: “You
are my beloved son "I am very happy with you."
Conclusion:
God is looking for worshipers, hearts willing to do his will, he expects more than words. Tell
him Lord, here I am, I want to do your will .
TRUE WORSHIP
INTRODUCTION: (True worship) God is looking for worshipers, but the question
arises what true worship really is, what is God looking for? What does God
expect?...
In addition to this article, we invite you to read others that will bless your life:
Renew your love for God.
Rescued from the fiery furnace.
God will always help you.
Persevere, your miracle is near.
TRUE WORSHIP OF GOD:
1. DEFINITION:
A) From the Hebrew shajah: to worship, to prostrate, to lower oneself, to bow.
Several words are used in Greek , the one most frequently translated worship is
proskuneo (pros: towards; kuneo: kiss), it implies: act of homage or reverence, it
also translates: give obedience to, kneel, prostrate.
Note: worship is the recognition of the nature of God, where the human heart
surrenders and submits in love, it is that worship that pleases God because it first
seeks to do the divine will.
B) Matthew 4:9-10 "And he said unto him, All this will I give thee, if thou wilt fall
down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan, for it is written:
You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only you shall serve.”
Note: the NT interlinear says: “and he said to him: all these things I will give you, if
you fall to the ground and prostrate yourself before me. Then Jesus said to him,
“Go away, for it is written: You shall worship the Lord your God on your knees, and
worship him alone.” There are several interesting things to highlight here:
1. The context tells us that the devil does not want you to worship God.
2. The devil offers many things to stop you from worshiping God.
3. The devil will offer you the easiest way. (Jesus is Lord of all kingdoms... but first
was the cross...).
4. So the best worship is to do the will of God in His time and wait in His
sovereignty…
II. TRUE WORSHIP IS IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH: John 4:19-24.
"The woman said to him, 'Lord, it seems to me that you are a prophet. Our fathers
worshiped on this mountain, and you say that Jerusalem is the place where we
should worship. Jesus said to her: Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when
neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship
what you do not know; we worship what we know; because salvation comes from
the Jews.
But the hour is coming, and is now, when true worshipers will worship the Father in
spirit and truth; because the Father also seeks such worshipers to worship Him.
God is Spirit; and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
That's why Jesus brings freedom, he makes us free to worship.
(We invite you to read: Seeking the presence of God. )
A) The context shows us an evangelizing action on the part of Jesus.
Note: the Lord Jesus speaks to a Samaritan woman:
The Lord takes advantage of this to teach about true worship…
1. Highlights the father-son relationship.
2. In these five verses, the word worship or its derivatives is used ten times (this
makes it important)...
3. The Father is looking for this kind of worshipers
B) The Vrs. 23 and 24, teach us some characteristics of true worshipers: “they
worship the Father”, “in spirit”, “and truth”…
Note: they are people who have experienced the new birth , just as the presence
of God was manifested in the most holy place, now the son of God meets him in
the spirit... because God is Spirit and communication is spiritual, Vrs. 24.
The word truth tells us about honesty and obedience to God... the Samaritan
woman needed to know that she had to be born again and that worship was more
than the religious life that she lived because she worshiped God, since she had
had five husbands and the sixth was not good either. her husband. The woman
who worshiped Jesus in the home of Simon, the Pharisee , had humility and
sincerity as her main virtue.
III. TRUE WORSHIP IS MORE THAN WORDS:
A)It is a complete and transcendent security in God.
Note: Daniel 3:14-18 , these young people trusted in God beyond their life on this
earth...
B) It is a firm attitude in the face of the enemy and his machinations.
Note: Daniel 3:19-20,23 …Daniel faced threats, angry faces, complications,
impotence…
C) It is a complete trust in God.
Note: Daniel 3:24-25, 28 , “God sent his angel and delivered his servants who
trusted in him ”…
D) It is being willing to go with Jesus until the end...
Note: we can remember Peter... he followed Jesus from afar... he denied him... But
these three young men did not recant even though the fire was intense...
Conclusion: True worship is more than a physical position, it is more than words,
it is more than tears, worship is more than singing or playing a
instrument, is to give everything for Him... it is to refuse the offers of the enemy of
our souls, it is to recognize that he is the Lord, owner of everything and to whom
we owe our lives, when you worship him in spirit and truth, and enter into his
presence , He cannot resist that and is glorified in your life, you see the greatness
of God through you = Vrs. 29-30 “made them great,” “prospered them,” “promoted
them to much more important positions.” Worship and see the supernatural action
of your God.
