In this essay, I want to tell you about the seson I like best, and in order
for me to determine which
season I like best, we firstly need to know where I live and what kind of seasons
my country has. Well,
first of all, I'm currently living in Myanmar, a country in Southeast Asia. It is
also known as Burma, and it
is the largest country in Mainland Southeast Asia. I was born here, and I've been
living here since my birth.
Myanmar has theree monsoon climate seasons: the cool and dry northeast monsoon
season, the hot and dry
intermonsoonal season, and the rainy southwest monsoon season.
The cool monsoon season, also known as the Northeast monsoon season, starts
in November and ends in
February. During this season, the air is relatively dry, and the temperature is
warm during the day, while at
night times, the temperature is reasonably low, and the weather is cold. The reason
why it is called
the Northeast monsoon season is because of the direction in which the wind travels
to during this season.
The wind will only be blowing from the North-East to the South-West in between
December and February. There
are a lot of holidays during this season. For example, National Day on the 5th of
December, which also happens
to be my birhtday, Christmas on the 25th of December, New Year on the 1st of
January, Myanmar Independence Day
on the 4th of January, Union Day on the 12th of February, etc. There are a lot of
good things about this
season and that is why it is also called the festive season. However, you can also
catch a cold, get a runny
nose, and when you're outside in the cold, your heart has to work harder to keep
you warm, and can lead to
increased heart rate and blood pressure.
The hot intermonsoonal season starts in March and ends in May. Throughout
this season, the temperature
is intensely hot during the day, and at night times, it is relatively warm in most
of the country. The Central
part of Myanmar tends to have a higher temperature during this season. The reason
why it is called the
Intermonsoonal season is because it is between the two monsoon seasons, the
Northeast monsoon season, and the
Southwest monsoon season. There also quite a few holidays during this season. For
example, Peasants' Day on
the 2nd of March, Armed Forces Day on the 27th of March, Myanmar New Year Holidays
from the 13th to the 17th
of April, May Day on the 1st of May, the Summer holidays, etc. During this season,
you'll get sweat all over
your body which is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you don't change your
clothes fast enough, you will get
sick. If you have air conditioners, you will most likely be using it more often,
and your electric bill will
be much higher in the hot season than the other seasons.
The final season, which is the rainy southwest monsoon season, starts in June
and ends in October. During
this time, rainfall can be constant for long periods of time. Because of this, the
temperature is quite
balanced. It's not too hot nor too cold during this season. The rainy monsoon
season is the opposite of the
cool monsoon season. The wind will only blow from the South-west to the North-east
during this season. In
terms of holidays, there aren't that many holidays in this season. For example,
Martyrs' Day on the 19th of
July, and Thadingyut holidays. Farmers who live in rurals or villages will grow
crops during this season
because there will be enough water from the rain for the crops to grow well.
Raining is not always a good
thing. Sure, it helps us grow crops, but it can also harm us. For example, heavy
rain can cause flooding, and
it can destory thousands of homes. Storms can also occur the most during this
season. Because of this,
the Electric Power Corporation, also known as the EPC, will shut down all
electricity if there it is raining,
leading to lack of access to electricity in our country during the rainy season.
As for me, out of the three seasons, I like the cool season best. Let me
explain to you why. Although
I can easily catch a cold if I don't properly take care of my body and health, I
really enjoy the cool feeling
I get during this particular season. I was also born in this season, and I get a
lot of presents and gifts
from my family. I can also get up early in the morning and exercise. There are a
lot of holidays during this
season, and I have more time to relax and hang out with my friends. Before Covid-19
began, my family used to
do a family gathering every Christmas or New year, and it was always fun to meet
all the other family members.
In my opinion, I think that the cool season is the best season! So, that is why I
love the cool season.
