Course Description:
The case method of learning goes beyond the lecture method and helps you to take on roles, respond
and learn. The case method is a student-oriented teaching strategy to impart participants with critical
thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills. The case method gives emphasis to learning from
decision-making situations in various businesses. This method encourages participants to work
through complex, ambiguous, and real world problems. It helps participants to “see it from an action
perspective, rather than analyze it from a distance.”1 Case studies help participants to apply the
theoretical concepts and assist in bridging the gap between theory and practice. According to Professor
S. Sreenivas Rao, ex faculty of IIM Ahmedabad, “The case method reverses the order of learning from
concept to application to from application to concept.”2
Learning Objectives:
Subject learning outcomes of Case Learning Pedagogy course:
a) To help participants to develop an understanding of effective case analysis
b) To develop good organizational, time management and teamwork skills among participants
in solving the various cases.
c) To impart participants with critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills for case
analysis
