Introduction
What is happening in Gaza nowadays is unprecedented. It defies all standards of morality and
humanity. To sympathize with the unfortunate fate of the steadfast people of Gaza – and
Palestine in general – one must not be a Muslim; it is sufficient to be a human being and to
have a human consciousness. This in addition means that the perpetrators of the Gaza
catastrophe, which is assuming the character of an ethnic cleansing and even genocide, are
not human beings in the ethical, yet civilizational, sense of the word, nor do they possess any
moral intelligence.
The Gaza events signify a battlefield for clashes between civilization and barbarism, truth and
falsehood, sanity and madness, and between humanity and otherwise. Thus, Gaza’s theatre of
war is not confined merely to a tiny strip of land wedged between Egypt, the Mediterranean
Sea and Israel as an illegal geopolitical entity, but rather extents far and wide to encompass
all parts of the planet. Everyone feels compelled to make a stand, both personally and
institutionally. In a way - it stands to reason - the Gaza conflict is a global phenomenon; it is
a “world war” between discordant worldviews, value systems and existential paradigms.
It cannot be said enough that the guilty parties in this global war are the Zionist state of Israel
and the criminal aspects of the institutionalized West and its inflated civilization. The
creation, functioning and sustainability of Israel were possible only because of the unreserved
support of the latter. As a matter of fact, Israel is an instrument of the West and its un-
civilizational schemes; it is its “bastard child.” More specifically, Israel was possible only in
association with the illegal colonization of Palestine at the hands of Britain as a chief
torchbearer of the West. Therefore, the foundation of Israel (its occupation of Palestine) is a
twinned illegality and its identity a twofold criminality.
Indeed, if Israel was legal, it would not have been pursued and maintained illegally. Because
of that, discourses about the Palestinian issue are to be placed against the background of the
occupation and its ensuing tyranny. All other things are irrelevant. If not, problems could be
muddled and developments misunderstood. Accordingly, the Palestinians are entitled to make
recourse to any sorts of means and channels with the aim of ending the occupation and
punishing the oppressors. Such terms as terrorism, criminality, rigidity, unwillingness to
negotiate or compromise, etc., are not to be associated with the Palestinians in any way. They
are freedom fighters par excellence; they are heroes and beautiful examples to others; their
dead are martyrs and inspiration to posterity.
Resisting Israel and its sponsors in any effective ways is an obligation incumbent upon all
Muslims. Doing so is jihad, all forms of which ought to be activated. To turn a blind eye to
the ongoing occupation or to remain indifferent to it, is a sin. It is an affront as much to the
religion of Islam as to one's conscience.
This book was written as the Gaza calamity was unfolding. The author felt that just
lamenting, protesting, forwarding and sharing other people’s materials (contributions), and
even praying, was not enough. While not by any means discounting the latent potentials of
the measures mentioned, something extra was needed. The feeling quickly translated itself
into a productive action, resulting in the completion of a series of articles. Ten articles were
penned and published on several leading Muslim websites. The articles were then converted
into chapters and, taken together, underwent refinement to constitute the subject matter of the
book.
Written from an interdisciplinary perspective, the ten chapters offer insight into manifold
aspects of the question of Palestine, ranging from history and politics to education and
eschatology. The following themes make up the core of discussions: the historical origins of
the Palestinian problem; how Muslim leaders betrayed Palestine, essentially giving it away;
Israel is not the only guilty party, but also the fraudulent facets of the West, forming together
the most longstanding axis of evil; why and how Zionism is intrinsically wicked; the unholy
trinity of Western civilization, Western colonization and Zionist occupation of Palestine; the
best strategies to confront Israeli-Western brutalities and liberate Palestine; and the reasons
why Israel is an illegitimate political entity.
