3. Reinforced Mesh — For Contour Application. Optional for durations up to and including 3 Hrs (does not apply to the
reduced flange edge thickness table). No. 20 SWG galv steel wire twisted to form 1 or 2 in. hexagons. Mesh embedded in
Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Materials prior to application of final coat and wrapped around the column flanges. Steel should
be lightly blast cleaned to remove dirt, loose scale and oil.
3A. Metal Lath — For boxed type protection. Min 3.4 lb per sq yd expanded steel. Lath lapped 2 in. at vertical joint on column flange and
tied together with No. 18 SWG galv steel wire, spaced vertically 14 in. OC.
4. Keycoat/Sealer — (Not Shown) — Prior to application of Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Material, Promat Type PSK 101 to be
applied to steel surface of column at a nominal wet film thickness of 100-150 microns (4-6 mils) in case of mesh-free
application.
