This requires reading the poem at least four times,
Step 1: Number the stanzas,
‘Step 2: Read the poem aloud. Poets choose their words for both their meaning and sound
Step 3: Read the poem and highlight any challenging or confusing words. Define any words you do not know.
Step 4: Read the poem again carefully and make notes in the margin, You must have at least ONE annotation per stanza (not
including any words you defined).
