CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This section outlines the overview and findings resulting from the study conducted

to identify the elements influencing the learning preferences of working students at Academia de

Pulilan, aiming to enhance their favored learning approach. Additionally, it offers suggestions

that the Academia de Pulilan administration and upcoming researchers can consider.

The participants consisted of working students from various programs at Academia

de Pulilan, including TVL – HE, TVL – ICT, HUMSS, ABM, and STEM, with the entire

working student population being included in the study.

Summary of Findings
The aim of this research was to analyze the factors influencing the learning styles of

working students at Academia de Pulilan, focusing on the students' profiles such as age, gender,

program strand, and school affiliation. The study encompassed all strands at the institution,

including TVL – HE, TVL – ICT, HUMSS, ABM, and STEM.

The research involved 100 working students as participants, showcasing diversity in terms

of age, gender, and strand. Data collection was carried out using the descriptive research method,

with a combination of universal and random sampling techniques employed by the researcher to

select the study's participants.

The survey questionnaire, consisting of ten (10) items/questions, was employed as the data

collection tool. Each item contained a statement addressing the factors impacting the learning

styles of working students, requiring participants to encircle the letter corresponding to their

experiences. The data gathering took place in the academic year 2023-2024.
The following were the salient findings of the study:

1. The highest rating obtained was 69% for the male and 31% for the female. I ndicating

that the majority of respondents were male students, particularly in the STEM strand.

2. Getting a percentage of 51%, students preferred option B in question number 1.

Indicating that development of valuable skills and financial stability are some potential

advantages working students have on taking a part time job.

3. Achieving the highest rating of 41%, students preferred option D in Question 2.

Suggesting that allowance is the most helpful financial assistance for working students.

4. With 62% as the highest rating, a significant number of respondents selected option A in

Question 3. Meaning that majority of the students have a hard time in managing their

time between work and studies.

5. Scoring 65% as the highest rating, the majority of respondents favored option C in

Question 4. Showing that talking to friends and family alleviates the stress of working

students.

6. Attaining a high rating of 49%, a considerable number of respondents chose option C in

Question 5. Highlighting that being a working student that juggles time between work

and studies only have a slight impact for the student.

7. Obtaining a top rating of 36%, there was a notable preference for option A in Question 6

among the respondents. Indicating that academic performance decline is most likely the

reason why a working student would reduce their work hours or even quit their job.

8. Scoring 73% as the highest, the majority of respondents selected option B in Question 7,

indicating a strong preference for that choice. Showing that working students are satisfied

with their current occupation.


9. With a highest score of 52%, the most popular choice in Question 8 was option C.

Showing that students balance both their work and school responsibilities equally.

10. A top rating of 62% indicated that option A in Question 9 was highly favored by the

majority of respondents. Meaning that most of the working students utilizes time

management techniques to improve their academic performance.

11. Acquiring a rating of 38%, showcasing that option A was the most chosen answer for

question 10. Highlighting that having a flexible work schedule is the kind of support that

would improve a working students’ academic performance.

Conclusions

Based on the indicated findings, the following conclusions were drawn:

1. The study revealed that working students encounter common challenges, including the

struggle to balance work responsibilities with academic commitments, limited time for

studying, and difficulties in managing multiple tasks effectively.

2. The findings demonstrated that working students implement various strategies to address

their challenges, such as prioritizing tasks, seeking support from peers and family, and

utilizing time management techniques to enhance their academic performance.

3. It was concluded that external factors, such as work schedules and financial constraints,

significantly impact the academic performance and the learning style of working

students, influencing their ability to focus on their studies.


4. The findings also indicated that working students does not only come to work for

financial income, but for the development of necessary skills and acquiring experience

which could have a positive impact on their learning approach.

Recommendations

Based on the findings and conclusions presented, the following recommendations are

hereby suggested:

1. To the students. To engage more with other working students, and teachers to learn

effective strategies for managing their work and academic responsibilities.

2. To the teachers. To communicate well with their learners who has an occupation in

order to help them grow and help them improve their academic performance and

further enhance their learning style.

3. To the future researchers. That this study will serve as your guide for future research

in improving you academic performance and enhancing your learning style.
