VII. Course Description:
This course covers topics on the concept of management as well as its characteristics and nature. It also discusses the different roles of the manager and
skills needed to become an effective manager and the history of management as well as tackles the nature of an organization’s environment particularly the
components of the external and internal environments. It also discusses the four (4) basic management functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling.
VIII. Course Credit/Unit: 3 units (54 lecture hours in a semester)

By the end of the course, it is expected that the students will be able to:
1. Define management and describe its characteristics
2. Explain the evolution of management thoughts through the classical, behavioral, and quantitative perspectives.
3. Discuss the nature of an organization’s environments and identify the components of its external and internal environments.
4. Define the nature and purposes of planning.
5. Identify the basic elements of organizations and describe the elements of organizational design
6. Describe the different situational approaches to Leadership and the different theories of motivation
7. Describe the basic control process
