Vanilla cake

That is simple and delicious:

Ingredients:

- 2 1/2 cups (312g) all-purpose flour

- 2 cups (400g) sugar

- 1 cup (240ml) milk, at room temperature

- 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened

- 4 large eggs, at room temperature

- 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

For the Vanilla Buttercream Frosting:

- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened

- 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar, sifted

- 2-3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

- Pinch of salt

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare Pans:

- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, or line them with parchment
paper.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. Cream Butter and Sugar:

- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy,
about 4-5 minutes.

4. Add Eggs:

- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla
extract.

5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and
ending with the flour. Mix until just combined.

6. Bake:

- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.

- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the
cakes comes out clean.

7. Cool:

- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a
wire rack to cool completely.

8. Make the Frosting:

- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth.

- Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, alternating with milk as
needed, until the frosting reaches a spreadable consistency.

- Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, and beat until fluffy.

9. Assemble the Cake:

- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread frosting over the top.
- Top with the second cake layer and spread frosting over the top and sides of
the cake.

10. Decorate:

- Decorate as desired. Sprinkles, edible flowers, or even fresh fruit can add a
lovely touch.

Enjoy your homemade vanilla cake!
