‣ Choose the correct option from those given below each question. (Each question carries 1 Marks) (20)
01. 2
02. a = 5, b = -15
4
03. 3
−3
04. 2
05. 𝑘(𝑥2 + 5 𝑥 + 41)
2
06. Let k be added in the polynomial
2
𝑝 (𝑥 ) = 𝑥 − 5 𝑥 + 4 + 𝑘
Now p'(3) = 0
2
∴ (3) − 5(3) + 4 + 𝑘 = 0
∴ 9 - 15 + 4 + k = 0
0 = −2+ k
∴k=2
07. Comparing given polynomial 𝑚𝑥2 − 5𝑥 + 2 = 0 with
𝑎𝑥2 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐, ∴ we have 𝑎 = 𝑚, 𝑏 = − 5, 𝑐 = 2
Given that αβ = 1
∴ 𝑎𝑐 = 1
∴c=a
m=2
08. comparing 𝑥2 − 3𝑥 + 2𝑘 with 𝑎𝑥2 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 we have 𝑎 = 1, 𝑏 = − 3 and 𝑐 = 2𝑘
Now α + β = αβ
∴ −𝑎𝑏 = 𝑎𝑐
∴ - b = c (∵ a ≠ 0)
∴ (-3)= 2k
∴ 3 = 2k
∴ k = 32
β + α β + α
09. here α1 + 1 = =
β α β α β
= α + β ÷ αβ
= −𝑎𝑏 + 𝑎𝑐
= −𝑎𝑏 × 𝑎𝑐
= −𝑐𝑏
10. 𝑚 = 15 , n = 5
