PROJECTS S
DNA Analysis of seminal and vaginal sample mixture and identification through Raman Spectroscopy.
[May 2022 – July 2022]
● The analysis of body fluid traces during forensic investigations is a critical step in determining the key
details of a crime. Several confirmatory and presumptive biochemical tests are currently utilized.
● It is necessary to quicken the forensic investigation to hasten the criminal proceedings. Semen and vaginal fluid
are the most encountered evidence in the sexual assault cases.
● This study suggests an approach for the non-destructive, confirmatory identification of body fluid traces using
Raman spectroscopy.
● The method is based on the use of multidimensional spectroscopic signatures of body fluids.
● The results presented here demonstrate that Raman spectroscopy has potential for identifying traces of mixture of
semen and vaginal fluid.
Rapid DNA Solutions for law enforcement agencies – A Review [Sep 2021 – Oct 2021]
● Rapid DNA delivers very fast DNA samples and also DNA can be used as a tool in active investigations. The
Rapid DNA system is a fully automated, suspected DNA sample to be processed, enrolled and searched in
CODIS in approx. 90 mins. Rapid DNA will assist in preventing future crimes by expeditiously linking
individuals to unsolved cases.
