1. Religious transformations in Ancient and Medieval India

Compare and contrast the religious philosophies of Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism during

the Mauryan and Post0 Mauryan period. How did the beliefs systems shape social structures

and governance.

Include- Ashoka, Mahavira and Buddha- discuss the role of religion in promoting social

cohesion or conflict and the interaction between state and religion

2. The Delhi Sultanate and Cultural Syncretism

Discuss the cultural impact of the Delhi Sultanate on Indian Society. How did the Sultans

foster or resist cultural and religious syncretism?

Include: influence of Persia, Islamic and Hindu traditions. Provide examples of art,

architecture, language and religious policies (especially towards the non-Muslims)

3. Sufi and Bhakti Movements

Analyse the role of the Sufi and Bhakti movements in shaping Indian Society during the

medieval period. How did these movements challenge or reinforce existing social

hierarchies?

Include the comparison of Sufi and Bhakti philosophies, their impact on caste and class

structures, and the way they promoted religious tolerance and social reform.

4. Art and Architecture of the Mughal period

Examine the contributions of the Mughal empire to Indian art and architecture. How did

Mughal architecture symbolise political power and religious ideologies?

Include: Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, etc- and discuss the symbolism, architectural innovations

and the fusion of Persian, Indian and Islamic styles.

- Main Body: Analyze the topic in depth, using evidence from academic sources. Make sure

your points are organized logically with clear transitions between paragraphs.

- Conclusion: Summarize your findings and state the relevance or long-term impact of the

historical events or periods discussed.

5. Originality:

- Avoid plagiarism. All ideas, arguments, or data that are not your own must be properly
