Book Reviews
1. The Silent Pateint - Alex Michaelides
One of the best books I have ever read. The story till the end was
very captivating, I never thought the ending would be something
like that. Throughout the book, the shift between the storylines of
the past and present was so smooth that I didn’t even realise it until
the end. The storyline overall was too good. The description of
characters was surreal, I never knew text can provide this much
details. In the mid I really wanted Alicia and Theo to get together.
But the way story unfolded and then when he said that was the first
time I met Alicia, it gave me goosebumps. I didn’t like it when it
came to light that Kathy was cheating on Theo with Gabriel (again
proving my point that love is too overrated) and the fact that even
after knowing all this Theo was still living with her. I hoped for an
epilogue, I wanted to know if they will convict Theo or not but the
author ended it, which was good too. I liked the character of Ruth
quite a little, she was very straight-forward wuth her answers and
always thought the best for Theo. I really liked how Theo didn’t
kill Gabriel at the end, only scared the couple and told Alicia the
truth about Gabriel and in response to this Alicia tried to chike
Theo when they first met at the Grove, which was quite upsetting.
Indira, I liked her too, she is portrayed as a mother and I could fell
that she is very warm and caring about her patients, treating her
pateints was her top priority then to drug them and restrain them as
was Theo’s as well. All the characters were really well described
and played their part. Alicia’s brother, Paul, was also very good till
the end, he only wanted what was best for her sister. Gabriel’s
brother, Max, on the other hand was too disgusting, but his honest
cry at the end moved me a little. I felt bad for Tanya though, noone
deserves such husband. The best part about the book, again I’ll
repeat is how the author switches between the present and the past,
that is all too amusing when you find out. I never read such story,
too good. This story had a prologue, that is something I really like
in story books, they should have a Epilogue as well though, gives
the book a final ending. 10/10 book, must read.
2. The Devotion of Suspect X - Keigo Higashino
Another nice book. The story is set in Japan, which is one of the
places I really want to visit someday, nonetheless, let’s talk about
the story. First of all I didn’t understand the title till the end of the
book, seriously it took all 200+ pages for me to understand the
title of the book, unlike the previous book, whose title was quite
obvious after reading a few chapters. Though this book is based on
mystery, a murder, in the end I felt like it is more of a platonic
love. It’s kind of like a person (Ishigami) in love with Yasuko,
would do anything just to protect her and despite all his efforts he
was not able to do so. I mean the story itself was brilliantly written,
the mystery that it created was too amusing for me, but then again
if the MC did all this for love, I am not very convinced, I don’t
think people are capable of doing this. They maybe able to kill
someone for their love but to kill someone and plot everything else
is quite a stretch. If talking only from the POV of a mystery
thriller, this book was too good. I really liked how Ishigami plotted
everything, making a dead body alibi, too good. I also liked how
his long lost friend (Yukawa) saw through all his schemes and
unraveled the truth. The police here is shown too dumb I feel. The
misleading clues planted by Ishigami were all accpetd as true by
the police and the lead investigators (Kusinagi and Kishitani). But
the story of is too amusing to read, for the first half of the book the
story is really captivating but then it starts to get a little bland and
then the final revelation happens which is too much for anyone to
take in and still Yukawa figured it all out by himself, too much
genius. I really liked how Yukawa was truly sad to have a lost a
friend of this calibre, but again Devotion shown by Ishigami
(Suspect X) was too much for me at the end.
3. The World of Norm 1 (May Contain Nuts) - Jonathan
Meres
4. The Prophecy #5 - Chris Kuzenski
5. Ghosts of the Silent Hill - Anita Krishan
6. The Book Thief - Markus Zusak ( OnGoing )
7. Animal Farm - George Orwell
One of the most interesting books that I have read so far. To
conclude it in one sentence - It is a story in which a tyrant is
overthrown by a rebellion to give birth to another tyrant. This stroy
portrays the crux of class struggles that our society is well aware
of. It speaks volumes of how illiteracy is exploited by more
intelligent race and poeple. It highlights all the sins of human
beings transferred to the Animals (Pigs). As soon as they became a
little superior, they didn’t wait to widen the gap and take over
another animas. As the wise say - The rich gets richer and the poor
get poorer.

22. Waiting (Making of Riley Paige #2) - Blake Pierce
23. Luring (Making of Riley Paige #3) - Blake Pierce
24. The Violin Conspiracy - Brendan Slocumb
Inarguably, one of the best novels that I read. It was so emotional,
so funny, so thrilling, so motivating and so damn sad. The struggle
of an artist, the no support and then the tiniest bit of it can make so
much difference in one’s life. I long for the kind of connections
Ray found, struggling through life, finding a perfect mentor and
already having a perfect grandma. Someday, I wish to be as happy
as Ray felt while he played his PopPop’s fiddle.
25. The Nation of Idiots - Daksh Tyagi
This is one of the most informative and entertaining books that I
have ever read. This book is not very intellectual in a sense that all
the topics convered in the book are very common sensical. There’s
no rocket science to it. But they are often ignored because of the
IDIOTS mentioned in the book. We don’t change rituals or
anything even if it’s are more harmful then beneficial, we just go
on with them because it’s how it has been for decades. In every
walk of life we encounter many idiots, they are literate but not
educated. This doesn’t mean that the author condemns orthodox
thinking, like believeing in GOD, or following a particular
religion, the author just presents his point of view on thing that
should bug everyone of us but we just don’t bother to questoin
them. I myself as a kid, have wondered why am I doing something,
which doesn’t make any sense, but on the say so of my elders. But
my parents are adaptive ofcourse, they know change is the only
constant and that this world is changing every second so how can
decade old rituals stay the same, they should be improvised to meet
the standards of modern society. This book also highlighted how
media plays a huge role in forking our perspective about certain
things, which may or may not be entirely true. We all have seen
how media makes a huge thing out of nothing. This is because of
the idiots who run or control these media outlets. All in all this
book was really informative, I would recommend everyone to read
this book once.
26. Girl Taken (Ella Dark #2) - Blake Pierce
27. Taking (Making of Riley Paige #4) - Blake Pierce
28. Stalking (Making of Riley Paige #5) - Blake Pierce
29. Learn to Win Agruments - Vishal Gupta
a. Argument - In this book it is not something that is heated, or
in form of yelling but it is any form of disagreement that we
encounter in our daily lives, with out parents, siblings,
friends, wife, kids, with anyone that doen’t let us live the way
we want to live.
This book doesn’t help you form right arguments or avoid wrong
agrunents, there are only winning arguments and losing ones,
therefore it doesn’t matter if your argument is right or wrong, we
just need to win.
30. 1984 : The Graphic Novel - FidoNesti
31. The 1000 year old boy - Ross welford
It’s a very warm, sometimes sad, sometimes funny and a whole
package. I liked it very much. I like the direction of the novel, how
it unfolds itself is pretty amazing and yet so simple to understand.
Each event is explained only when it is necessary to do so and
towards the end all the dots connect and there are almost o plot
holes which is really very important for me as a reader. Very good
novel, but i don’t know if this is for kids, but who cares I really
enjoyed this
32. The Thursday Muder Club #2 ( The man who died twice )
33. The Thursday Muder Club #3 ( The Bullet That Missed )
34. Fourth Wing ( The Empyrean #1 )
35. Dream Machine ( AI and the Real World - Graphics Novel )
36. Good Girl’s guide to Murder #1 ( Holly Jackson )
Well this is one of the most interesting books that I have read after
that initial euphoria of devotion of suspect X and the silent patient.
This was intense till the end. I never felt bored of it. It was
emotional, It was funny, it made me smile at many places and it
was just perfect. The narrative is so good, it’s really captivating.
This book really tells you how to investigate, I don’t know if real
investigations take this kind of form but if they don’t , they should.
Every evidence is scrutinized and reexamined, life of every suspect
is torn apart jus tto make connections that might help in the case.
In th end it was not just about the murder of Andie or Sal, it
revelaed many more hidden or buried cases. I’ll try to read other
books in this series as well, maybe they will reveal more.
37. The Teacher ( Frieda Mcfadden )
Well this is one of the good books that I have read. It’s not the best
book, but it’s good nonetheless. I don’t like two faced people, after
all that happened to me. This book though good, leaves a good
amount of plot holes for me. The final revelation that Jay is
Hudson and that Eve killed her husband beacause he was sleeping
with his student when she was doing exactly the same thing. This
sets me off. She should be punished as well, if his husband
deserved to die, so does she. But she got away with it, and
Jay/Husdon he’s like accomplice in 2 murders, I think he is the real
pyscopath. Maybe there will be a sequel to this book, I can imagine
the sequel but maybe the author doesn’t want it. It was good
overall, I am not much of a critic anyways.
38. The hidden hindu ( Akshat Gupta )
