Tom Bola Rules Names

Tombola is the Italian version of bingo, but only horizontally counts. Numbers are pulled out of a rotating drum, or, with home games, a bag. Each number typically has a little name or rhyme that the tombolone will also announce.

TombolaistheItalianversionofBingo.However,unliketheAmericanversion,whereyoucanmakeBingohorizontally,vertically,ordiagonally, InTombola,onlyhorizontallycounts. Oneachcardthereare3rowsand9columns.Ineachrow,only5ofthe9columnsareoccupiedbyanumber.Theothercolumnsareintentionally leftblank. Column1containsnumbersfrom110, Column3containsnumbersfrom2130, Column2containsnumbersfrom1120, Column9containsnumbersfrom8190. Numbersarepulledoutofarotatingdrum,or,withhomegames,abag.Thepersonwhopullsthenumberoutofthedrumiscalledthe tombolone.Thetomboloneusesamastercardonwhichthenumbersfrom190arewritteninsequentialorder. Thetomboloneproceedstopullandannouncenumbersfromtherotatingdrumoneatatime.He/shewillthentypicallyannouncethenumberin Italian(andsometimesinEnglish,dependingontheaudience).Eachnumbertypicallyalsohasalittlenameorrhymethatgoesalongwithit, whichthetombolonewillalsoannounce.Forexample:Ifthenumber25iscalled,thenthetombolonewillshoutoutVenticinqueNatale.(The connectionbeing25isthedateofChristmas,whichinItalianisNatale.)Ifthenumber33iscalled,thenthetombolonewillshoutoutTrentatre LlanneGesuCristo.(TheconnectionhereisthatJesuslivedonEarthfor33years.) Aseachnumberiscalledout,playerscoverthatnumberontheircards.Mosttombolasetsthatyoucanbuycomewithlittleplasticbeans,or fagioli.(Youcanevenuserealbeansifyourunoutoftheplasticones.) Tombolaistraditionallyplayedformoney.Eachcardcostsasetamount(10or25).Playerscanpurchaseasmanycardsastheywish,exceptfor thetombolone,whomustpurchase6cards.Thetotalpotwillbedividedinto5smallerprizes.Eachprizegoestothewinnerofthe5individual roundswhichmakeupacompletetombolagame. The5roundsofatombolagameare: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Whenonepersonhascovered2outofthe5numbersinahorizontalrow,he/shewillcalloutAmbo.Thenthegamestopsandthepersoncollects his/herprize.Thegamecontinues,withprizesarecollectedforthewinnersoftheTerno,Quaderno,andQuintorounds. Thepersonwhofinallycoversallofthenumbersonhis/hercardcallsoutTombola,andisconsideredthewinnerofthegame.(Usuallythepotfor theTombolaroundislargerthanthoseoftheotherrounds.)
