Clearance height (headroom): 2,5 m (2,2 m)

Walks - conditions
A walk should has the width adjusted to the volume of pedestrians:
width = n0,75 m (+0,50 m) n – number of pedestrian lanes
The width of kerbs and edging should not be including in
operating width of a walk.
The width of walk located directly at a carriageway, parking lane
or parking bay should not be smaller than 2,00 m, and in a case of
rebuilding a road, in a location of obstacles, it is allowed to lower
the width to 1,25 m.
The width of walk not located directly at a carriageway, parking
lane or parking bay should not be smaller than 1,50 m, and in a
case of rebuilding a road, in a location of obstacles, it is allowed
to lower the width to 1,0 m (1,2 m in US).

Walk lanes - conditions

In locations where obstacles are present it is allowed to split the
walk into at least two separate parts under the conditions that any
of the parts have a width not smaller than 1,0 m.

Longitudinal grades of walks should no be larger than 6%

(5% US: 1V:20H). However there is no limit if it follows the
grade of the street.
For longitudinal grades large than 6% ramps or stairs should be
used and balustrades with railings.

Max cross fall od sidewalk is 2% (1V:48H) to ensure a relatively

level area for travel and manoeuvrability for walkers and
wheelchair users. Cross falls are needed for drainage.

Bike lanes - conditions

Location of bicycle paths and bicycle-pedestrian paths should

ensure the traffic safety.
The distance between bicycle paths and bicycle-pedestrian paths
from an edge of carriageways as well as their location should obey
the technical requirements for walks.

The width of a bicycle path, not including the widths of a kerb and
an edging, should be adjusted to volume of cyclists and should be
minimum:
• 1,5 m – for unidirectional path
• 2,0 m – for two-directional path

TRAFFIC CLEARANCES
Choosing the operating space for different types of traffic

On footbridges acc. to the volume of pedestrians and cyclists :

• width – acc. to the volumes but not smaller than 3,0 m
• height – 2,5 m

Under foobridges TR PFU GDDKiA

A road headroom: class A, S or (GP) 4,70 (4,5) m 5,00 m
class G lub Z 4,60 (4,5) m 4,80 m
class L lub D 4,50 m 4,70 m

The clear width for grade-separated crossings should not be smaller than:
• 3,0 m for an overpass
• 4,5 m for an underpass (subway)
