Badges

The badges are full of history and

meaning. It may seem to many that the
production of badges is just a pleasant
trifle that will be forgotten and lost. But in
fact, when several decades pass, the
badge will reflect the spirit of the past time.
Today, modern materials, plastic, steel,
etc. are used in the manufacture of
badges. And several millennia ago,
precious stones, gold and silver were used
in the production of badges.
A bit of history
The first badges appeared in the USA:
politicians advertised their parties through
them. Therefore, the badges were called
"propaganda". They were made in the form of
flat tokens with an image covered with a
dacron film, providing a special gloss, and
protecting the paint from burnout.
Since 1916, badges were metal products with
applied images that were attached to people's
clothes with a sharp pin. Today, a secure
safety pin, magnet or clip is used as a
fastening element.
Making badges
There are several ways to make metal badges. In
factories, the technology of jewelry formation
consists of:
- the formation of a metal billet;
- attachment of bracing;
- applying a printed color image to the front part;
- lamination of a picture with a glossy film;
- crimping of the entire structure on a special
machine
Of course there is some other ways to make it at
home.
For example, you can attach a pin or a paper clip to a
metal lid and you will get a good brooch
Another 2 ways do make it:
1. remove the protruding edges of the lid inside,
glue the pin with glue gun to the inside of the
lid and voila!
2. put the tab from soda drink into the lid, fix it
with the edges of the lid itself and push a pin
into the tab
Thanks for attention!!
