STEVE JOBS
Steve Jobs was born in 1955 , he was an American entrepreneur and inventor. He was well known as the
co-founder and CEO of Apple Inc. He is widely known as the pioneer of personal computer revolution
and he influenced the society with his inventories in grounds of computer and electronic fields. He took
part in various industries including : computers, smartphones ,music and movies. In regard of movies; he
was the cofounder of Pixar animated and also became the member of board of directors of the Walt
Disney Company in 2006, when Disney acquired Pixar.
The childhood of Steve being a foster was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs . When Steve was five years
old, the family moved from San Francisco to Mountain view ,California. Later Jobs family adopted a
daughter named Patty. Paul worked as a carpenter and a mechanic. He taught some of the basic
electronics to Steve using hands and used to demonstrate to his son, how to take apart and rebuild
electronics such as radios and televisions. This resulted, Steve to get interested in technical arena. Clara
Jobs, mother of Steve was an accountant and worked for well known high tech firm .She taught him
(Steve) to read before going to school.
Steve was often frustrated with the formal schooling technique. At Monta Loma Elementary School in
Mountain valley; Steve misbehaved by playing pranks on others. Later School officials suggested Steve
to skip two grades but, parents elected to skip only one grade. Jobs later did his high school in Cupertino
Junior High in California where he found a friend named Bill Fernandez, one who shared common
interests in electronics. Fernandez later introduced Jobs to another Computer Whiz Kid named Steve
Woznaik who is called Woz . Later he got enrolled in Reed College Steve’s parents could not afford his
college expenses as they spent a lot on his education. 2Jobs lated dropped out of the college and further
more dropped in and out of various creative classes including calligraphy class.
He continued to attend classes while sleeping on the floor in his friend’s dorm rooms and used to collect
coke bottles and sold them for food and money. HE used to get weekly free meals at Hare Krishna
temple .Steve also said if he did not drop in into calligraphy course, Mac would never had multiple type
faces.
In early 1970’s , Jobs and Woznaik were much attracted towards technology like magnets .Woz designed
a low- cost digital Blue Box which interrupted telephone network, allowing free long distance calls. The
accelerated sales of Blue boxes , planted a seed in Job’s mind that technology is not just fun but
profitable too. Jobs also attended Homebrew Computer club with Woz in 1975. He greatly admired
Edwin [Link] , who is the inventor of instant photography.
Jobs and Woznaik stared their own company in 1976 and named it Apple computer Company in
remembrance of a happy summer Jobs had spent picking apples. At first they started making circuit
boards , later in 1070,Apple Co-founder Steve Woznaik engineered the first commercially successful
personal computers, Jobs later played a major role in introducing Laser Printer to the market. After a
power struggle in the company, Steve Jobs left the Apple Company in1985 and found NEXT a computer
platform, specializing education and business markets .In a speech that Steve gave in Stanford
University; he said that being fired from the Apple had been a benefit for him as he could find a new
company (NEXT) . He also said that tasting medicine is awful but the patient needed it. ‘The current CEO
of Apple Tim Cook also quoted about jobs saying that Jobs was a great person full of courage who could
easily change his mind. Later, Next was dismissed in the market due the expense that it required but ,
anyhow the computers from NEXT are known for its technical strengths and expiremental new
technologies like Mach Kernel , digital signal processor chip and built in Ethernet port . Tim Berners Lee
invented world wide web on a NEXT computer.
Later Jobs in 1986 , Jobs got involved in graphics division of Lucasfilm, which turned out to be Pixar He
was also credited as executive producer of TOY STORY (1995) he also served as CEO of Pixar until it got
purchased by Disney’s . Later as apple failed to deliver operating system, it turned to NEXT NEXT had
become he platform for Mac OS X Jobs returned to Apple as intern CEO and he bought the company
from near bankruptcy to be the most valuable publically traded company by 1998. During the term Jobs
served as a CEO ;Apple saw tremendous development as it introduced ;ipad, iphone,ipod,itunes, Apple
retail store , itunes store .Although Steve belonged to technical side of the product. He, being the CEO
involved himself in design of the Apple products . This made him have 346 patents both s primary and
co-inventor. These patents include speakers, keyboards, power adapters, clasps ,sleeves etc.
Jobs was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine tumor in pancreas. Though he was initially treated and got a
liver transplant in 2006 , his health couldn’t support and he resigned in August 2011. Steve died of
respiratory arrest due to his tumor on October 5 2011
