What does this role offer?
Sutherland Research is seeking passionate and motivated professionals who possess a strong desire to
excel in Financial Research (Credit Research/Equity Research/Investment Banking/Business Research).
Successful candidates will join dedicated client teams (leading global research/buy-side/sell-side/PE firms)
providing valuable ideas, penetrating insights, and sector-focused analysis. The coverage universe is across
geographies (primarily the US & Europe but could be global) and various cap sizes (large, mid & small cap).
Interacting with fund managers/portfolio managers/lead analysts across the globe.
Description:
• This is an entry-level Analyst position in Credit/Equity/Investment Banking Research to support
Wall Street investment firms
• As a part of the Research Team, the candidate will work with a diverse group of investment
professionals, executives, managers, and subject matter experts across the globe
• The candidate is required to have an understanding of financial statements and valuation methods
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint will be a plus
• The candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide
and defend an opinion with the senior leadership of the client and Sutherland
• The individual should be a good team player
Responsibilities - The candidate might have to perform one or more task(s) from the list below
• Perform investment research, including building financial models with KPI-driven Revenue
models, Cost drivers, Working capital analysis, Capex schedule, Capital Structure forecast,
Covenant analysis, Default & Recovery workouts, and IRR sensitivities
• Working on various Valuation methodologies like DCF, DDM, Relative Valuations, NAV, NPV, etc.,
and value Equity/Fixed Income/High-Yield/Alternative instruments, M&A Transactions, Special
Situations, etc.
• Support the team in delivering client requests which will ultimately help end-clients in
target/buyer identification, M&A Deal execution, identifying and evaluating investment
opportunities, making informed investment decisions, performing due diligence and portfolio
monitoring
• Earnings support, Company Analysis, Industry Insights, Operational and Financial Benchmarking,
Precedent Transaction Analysis, Investment Memos / Confidential Information Memorandums,
Term Sheet preparation from credit agreements
• Analyze financial information to produce forecasts of business, industry, and economic conditions
for making investment decisions
• Present oral and written reports on general economic trends, individual corporations, and/or
entire industry
• Using various databases, and search engines to find insightful data
Qualifications:
• MBA-Finance from tier-I/ II institutes/ CA, CFA (US) is a plus
• Understanding of the financial / investment concepts / financial statements
• Strong communication, presentation, and language skills
• Quality-focused with attention to detail
• Technologically competent (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, AI tools, if any)
• Be able to adjust quickly and smoothly to changing priorities and conditions
• Be proactive in developing trust and professional rapport with employees and team members;
work as a team player
