1. Draw a diagram of your science lab in the space below. Include in your diagram the
following items. Include notes that explain how to use these important safety items.
• Exit/entrance ways • Eye wash and shower • Sink
• Fire extinguisher(s) • First aid kit • Trash cans
• Fire blanket • Location of eye goggles • Location of
and lab aprons special safety instructions
2. How many fire extinguishers are in your science lab? Explain how to use them.
I can't see any fire extinguishers in my class from where I'm sitting. And the way you use them is when there is a fire you pull
the pin at the top of it and squeeze the handle.
3. List the steps that your teacher and your class would take to safely exit the science lab and
the building in case of a fire or other emergency.
In case of a fire the students and teachers are supposed to follow their evacuation route. In this class its
leaving all our stuff in the class and then exiting out the doors on the right side of the classroom.
4. Before beginning certain Investigations, why should you first put on protective goggles and
clothing?
You should make sure you put on protective goggles and clothing for some lab assignments because if a dangerous chemical
were to get in your eyes your goggles would protect you. And with the clothing its so if any corrosive chemicals get on your
clothes the protective clothing would stop the erosion or at least slow it down.
5. Why is teamwork important when you are working in a science lab?
Teamwork is important when working in a science lab because, you need good communication to get the things you need done
done and if their is something possibly dangerous you can convey that to your other classmates fluidly.
6. Why should you clean up after every Investigation?
You should clean up after you finish every investigation for safety and practical reasons. The safety reason is that if I have a
possible corrosive chemical it doesn't burn a hole in my desk. And the practical reason is that when you come back to class the
next day your desk or desk's aren't filled with junk from last class.
7. List at least three things you should you do if you sense danger or see an emergency in your
classroom or lab.
1. tell the teacher or if not there tell an adult near by.
