ASSESSMENT

1. Describe the manifestation of drug dependency in terms of the following:

Physical
- When a drug is stopped, withdrawal symptoms including sweating, trembling, and
nausea can appear. As tolerance grows, higher doses are required to achieve the same
result, which can result in health problems like respiratory distress and cardiovascular
problems. Prolonged substance use can also result in noticeable changes in
appearance, such as skin problems and fluctuations in weight.

Psychological and Emotional

- Substance abuse has a significant negative influence on mental health, leading to
anxiety, depression, mood swings, and strong cravings. Declining cognitive function can
lead to feelings of guilt, shame, or hopelessness as well as make it harder to make
decisions. A person's self-esteem may decline as they battle the emotional toll of
addiction, and they frequently lose interest in things they once enjoyed.

Behavioral
- Drug dependency leads to financial difficulties as a result of spending money on drugs,
as well as secretive behavior to hide drug use and neglect of obligations at work, school,
or home. People may experience a decline in their relationships with loved ones and turn
to dangerous habits like driving while intoxicated or stealing in order to feed their
addiction. These actions exacerbate the cycle of addiction and may give rise to legal
complications, which makes recovery even more difficult.
2. Explain why the youth must be educated on the matter of illegal drugs
- Teaching young people about illegal drugs is important because it gives them the knowledge
they need to make wise decisions and prevent potentially disastrous outcomes. An
understanding of the dangers of drug use, such as strained relationships and legal issues, as
well as mental and physical health problems like addiction and depression, is facilitated by early
education. Drug education also gives young people the tools they need to identify and reject
peer pressure, set boundaries, and make decisions that are consistent with their values and
aspirations. Additionally, it develops the ability to critically assess drug-related information and
discern between falsehoods and truths spread by peers or the media. Society makes an
investment in the future success and well-being of young people by teaching them about illegal
drugs. It lowers the occurrence of substance misuse in communities and encourages healthy
lifestyle choices by fostering a culture of accountability and respect for oneself and others. In the
end, comprehensive drug education is a proactive strategy to protect youth's health and future
by equipping them with the skills they need to overcome obstacles and make valuable
contributions to society.
