Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was established as
a government agency dedicated to grant aid programs in April 1991. To
achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
KOICA has set 5Ps - People, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership and Planet -
as its core values, promoting mutual development cooperation f o r
peace and prosperity centered on people to leave no one behind.

KOICA Fellowship Program, CIAT
Like its acronym that sounds like “seed”
in Korean, CIAT hopes to spread seeds
of hope across partner countries. CIAT
is a cooperation program where policy-
makers, public servants and experts
from developing countries are invited
for technical training and knowledge
sharing.
CIAT has established partnerships with
a multitude of public organizations,
research institutes, universities, and others
in Korea to offer quality training programs.
Such efforts have resulted in a high level
of satisfaction among participants. After
completion of the program, CIAT
participants play a significant role in
spreading Korea’s commitment and
goodwill towards their society.

7. Items to prepare
- K-water provides first aid kits. However, please be sure to bring any other personal medications.
- K-water provides accommodation, meals and refreshments in Korea. But you can bring expense
for souvenir or other personal reasons. Prices in Korea are a bit high, so it costs about 10 USD a
meal. You can exchange USD to KRW at Incheon airport & exchange shops in Seoul.
- There’re currently no COVID19-related restrictions in Korea.

K-water, established in 1967 as a water-specialized public company, has played a leading role in
securing safe water in the country and ensuring water-oriented welfare for the people. K-water is also
striving to cope with climate change, perform its social responsibility and resolve water-related issues
around the world.

K-water manages half the national water supply facility capacity. In addition, we operate 20 multi-
purpose dams, 48 integrated regional water supply systems, 28 local water supply systems and 14
sewage business.

Moreover, along with developing eco-friendly water front cities, K-water provides total water service that is unparalleled in
the world as Korea's representative state-owned water managing company.

As the No.1 renewable energy company in Korea, K-water provides 25% of the national facility with
renewable energy. The world's largest tidal power plant, 'Sihwa Lake Tidal Power Plant' and the world’s first
floating photovoltaic power generation system, 'Hapcheon Dam Solar Power Generating System' are
renowned examples of K-water's role in renewable energy.

In educational fields, K-water offers comprehensive learning programs for water management experts
that cover every subject regarding the entire water supply process from source to tap. We provide
professional training courses not only for in-house staffs but also for related government officials,
private water companies and international participants. K-water Academy offers high quality
educational contents based on the technology and know-how that we have accumulated over the last
50 years.

K-water have successfully completed over 350 international training programs, training around 5,000
participants from 106 countries worldwide until the end of 2021. With gained reputation, our
international training programs have been growing in size and number annually since K-water’s first
international training in 1997.

K-water has also aggressively advanced its overseas business since 1994. The corporation has
recently taken over Philippine's Angat Dam and initiated commercial development of the dam since
Nov. 1st, 2014. 23 overseas projects in 11 nations, including the construction of Partrind Hydroelectric
Dam in Pakistan, are currently undertaken.

K-water will endeavor to take the lead in solving global water issues. Through cohesive cooperation
with other national governments, authorities, NGOs and residents, we will enable people to enjoy the
benefits of clean and safe water. We also aim to steer the future water management paradigm by
utilizing advanced technologies and water management experiences accumulated over half a century.

Increasing investment and research in healthy water supply, integrated water resources management,
adaptation strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change, and efficient management of water disasters,
K-water will do our best to make a happier world with water.
