The Lost Puppy

One sunny afternoon, Mira was walking home from school when she heard
a faint whimpering sound coming from behind the bushes. She stopped

and carefully parted the leaves. There, trembling and muddy, was a small brown puppy with
floppy ears and sad eyes. Mira’s heart melted at the sight.

Gently, she picked up the puppy, noticing a small collar with no name tag. “Where did you
come from?” she whispered, though the puppy only whimpered softly in response. Mira
decided to take him home and ask her parents what they should do.
Once at home, her parents agreed to help. They gave the puppy a warm bath and fed him a
meal. The little pup wagged his tail happily. Mira named him “Buddy.” Together, they put up
flyers around the neighborhood, hoping to find the puppy’s owner.
Days passed with no response. Mira grew more attached to Buddy with every passing day.
They played fetch in the park, snuggled on the couch, and explored nearby trails. Just as
Mira began to hope Buddy might stay with her forever, there was a knock at the door.
An elderly man stood there with a tearful smile. “I saw your flyer,” he said, “and I think
you have my puppy, Charlie.” Mira’s heart sank. She knew what she had to do. With tears in
her eyes, she hugged Buddy tightly before handing him over. The elderly man thanked her
deeply and left with his beloved pet.

Later that night, Mira’s parents comforted her. They reminded her that she had done the
right thing and made someone very happy. Mira nodded, knowing they were right. And
though her heart ached, she smiled, feeling proud of her kindness.
