INTRODUCTION

The curriculum guide of Work Immersion described the core subject as one of

the course requirements for graduation. It added that a Senior High School student has

to undergo Work Immersion in an industry that directly relates to the student’s post

secondary goal.

Moreover, through Work Immersion, the students are exposed to and become

familiar with work-related environment related to their field of specialization to enhance

their competence. Specifically, the students are able to: gain relevant and practical

industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts and workers; appreciate the

importance and application of the principles and theories taught in school; enhance their

technical knowledge and skills; enrich their skills in communications and human

relations; and develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work.

These prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of employment or higher

education after graduation.

History

On the periphery of Binangonan, Province of Rizal, the population of growing barangays -

Mahabang Parang, Mambog, Macamot, Tatala and Batingan continue to increase. As a
result, a number of high school students who belong to the families residing in these
areas experienced an overwhelming growth, since public high schools in the municipality
were already crowded, thus, accommodation of students became a problem.
Nonetheless, Mrs. Maria A. Barrameda, principal of Vicente Madrigal National High
School, realized this dilemma and sought potential solutions to the overpopulation
problem of mother school. So, not long after, under her supervision and through the
initiative of some concerned parents, a petition was passed to the office of Mayor Cesar
M. Ynares. Moreover, in close coordination with the local government units and DepEd
officials, Dr. Edith A. Doblada, Schools Division Superintendent and Dr. Concepcion U.
Antonio, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Resolution No. 2002-133 Series of
2002 was established creating Vicente Madrigal National High School - Mahabang
Parang Annex. This newly found school is an answer to the growing needs of the said
families and other dropped-out students from nearby schools. In October 2, 2002, the
school started its operation under the leadership of the appointed Officer-in-Charge, Mr.
Ferdinand Bermudez. Due to lack of school building, one hundred students together with
three (3) teachers namely, Jamelito Aran, Nancy Aran and Rualiza C. Ocampo, settled at
Mahabang Parang Elementary School with three classrooms available On its second
year of operation, SY 2003-2004, seven (7) teachers coming from the mother school
were added to the teaching staff to meet the rapid growth of student population.
Furthermore, Mrs. Zenaida C. Teologo was assigned as the new Teacher-in-Charge of
the school . As proof of its continuing development, school name was changed to
Mahabang Parang National High School on its third year of operation in SY 2004-2005
under the leadership of Ms. Rosalina C. Vicencio, Teacher-in-Charge. Moreover, four
teachers were added as a response to the needs of five hundred fifty five (555)
students. Due to students' rapid population growth resulting to classroom
inadequacy.
History

Mahabang Parang Elementary School, with the administrator and faculty members,
decided to transfer at Casimiro Ynares Elementary School with the permission of Dr.
Ofelia Sta. Maria, District Supervisor and the principal Mrs. Ellen B. Francisco in June
2006. Thus, SY 2006-2007 opened with nine (9) classrooms, ready for occupancy.
Indeed, it was a year transformation, for the school witnessed another change in
leadership in the person of Mrs. Miriam C. Dionisio, Teacher-in-Charge, who assumed
the position on September 01, 2006. Under her stewardship, and through the support
coming from the thirty (30) teachers and one thousand five hundred thirty seven (1,537)
students, the school upholds its commitment of developing individuals who can be future
pillars of society. In November 20, 2007, twelve classroom of Casimiro Ynares with the
permission of Mrs. Amabel Bernardo and Elsa Dela Paz, thirteen (13) were fully
occupied. SY 2009-2010, two-storey building with four (4) classrooms were constructed
under the administration of Mrs. Miriam C. Dionisio. In August 16, 2010, Mrs. Roquita 5.
Suyod, the energetic and indefatigable principal came into being and continued the vision
and mission which the school has started and relentlessly develop and teachers and
students to their full potentials. Last September 16, 2013, Mr. Jose L. Catanes, took over
the position of school head and continued DepEd's vision and mission. Currently, the
school caters eighty (80) national teachers, and two thousand three hundred fifty four
(2,354) students. At present, the school continues to be true to its mission of producing
individuals with necessary skills to compete locally and globally. Thus, teachers are sent
to various trainings and seminars while students are exposed to worthwhile activities
which develop not only their intelligence but also their morale. This entire endeavour
would have been made possible through the concerted effort of Dr. Rommel Bautista,
OIC Schools Division Superintendent, CESO VI, Mrs. Corazon S. Badayos, Education
Program Supervisor and Monitoring Official of Binangonan 1, school administrator,
faculty members, students, community, LGUs and NGOs.

HIGHSCHOOL

EMOTIONAL/SOCIAL (Experiences in workplace) (Significant problems/ concerns

encountered, trouble personnel, co-students, facilities, time management)

In terms of the workplace, we encountered some challenges due to the lack of a

designated department, leading us to work frequently in outdoor settings. This situation
posed difficulties, but the immersion program remained a source of joy, bolstered by the
strong bonds formed with my friends and the meaningful connections established with
our teachers, which turned the experience into a memorable journey.

LEARNING/S ACQUIRED IN IMMERSION.

The immersion program proved to be an enriching educational journey , especially in

terms of building relationships with the teachers. One of the most important aspects of
our experience was the speed at which we had to work and our ability to multitask
because we were assigned a lot of different tasks that put our flexibility and time
management abilities to the test.

COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS

For the enhancement of future immersion programs in Mahabang Parang, I recommend

the provision of a facility that is well-equipped to accommodate the needs of students,
because we had a tough time because it was really hot due to high heat we`re facing,
and there were no fans to cool us down. This made it hard to focus at work. It's important
to have things like fans so that we can have a good place to get work done.

2. What was the low point of your work immersion? Describe?

As a work immersion student, a low point might be experiencing a particularly challenging task

lessons about perseverance, time management, and the importance of asking for help when
needed.

3. How did you feel about the training or responsibility given to you and mentoring/supervision?

I would say that it made me feel supported. The mentor ship was particularly beneficial, as it
allowed me to learn from experienced individuals and apply their insights to my work. Overall,
the support system contributed positively to my professional development.

4. Did your work immersion experience meet your expectations? Why Or Why not?

For me, my work immersion experience did not meet my expectations . I didn't get to work in a
specific department, We were mostly outside, But it wasn't all bad because the teachers were
super nice, and just being in a work environment was a new experience for me. So, even
though it wasn't exactly what I expected, there were still some good parts to it.

DOCUMENTATION

Photo Essay

This photo was taken when we checked the

modules of students in grades 9-10, which were
too many. That's when I realized that being a
teacher is hard because you have to teach and
also check a lot of students' papers.

This is when we were tasked with arranging the

tables and benches in their gymnasium and
placing designated sections for each table for the
card release.
In this picture, We had to identify students who
could take tests at other schools. The hard part
was reading their poorly written names.

And lastly , This was the most difficult and it took

us several days to complete because we made
200 ribbons here, and we were short of materials
so it made it even more challenging for us to do.
