Description : This placement is at an IT development company. The role involves website design, database
programming, creating bespoke software, designing e-commerce sites, SEO and supporting
the team.

Days and hours to be worked : Mon - Fri 10 - 2/3pm.


Lunchtime Arrangements : The student should provide a packed lunch.
Transport Arrangements : Student to make own travel arrangements to and from the placement.
Dress Code : Smart casual. Tidy Appearance
Interview : The student MUST contact the employer two to four weeks prior to the start date of the
placement.
The student should advise the employer of any relevant medical issues / learning needs when
attending for interview.
Code of conduct : The student should: Dress appropriately to the needs of the placement. Mobile phones must
be on silent and stored away during working hours. Be punctual, appropriate to the hours of
the business. Adhere to company rules and regulations. Phone the employer and school if
absent from the placement. The student should maintain the confidentiality of the business
and customers at all times. Students MUST NOT DISCUSS THEIR PLACEMENT ON SOCIAL
NETWORKING SITES. NO PHOTO's to be taken at any time. It is recommended that students
DO NOT "check in" their location when on Work Experience placement on social networking
sites, care and consideration must be taken into account to ensure students and young people
remain safe. Students MUST NOT accept incoming requests from Work Experience or outside
parties or attempt to contact anyone from Work Experience whether known or not. This is NOT
APPROPRIATE. Students MUST NOT exchange or take contact numbers of personnel at any
company or from customers or members of the public.
Employer Risk Assessment Info : Kitchen appliances, e.g. Microwave, kettle, fridge, cooker - may be used after training and
under supervision. Tripping Hazards - Student to be aware of surrounding items that may be
on the floor. The student will be supervised at all times. PPE will be provided as needed.
Lifting and carrying (manual handling) - Induction / instruction given and good handling
techniques demonstrated. The student should be aware of good general housekeeping in the
work areas. There will be 121 within an office. Please note that the RISK ASSESSMENT is
generic and based upon information provided at the time of the visit and may not be
necessarily exhaustive. H&S arrangements may need to be adjusted to take into account the
particular needs of a student.
Health and Safety Induction : The following is a minimum which the young person will receive on their first morning; on
arrival at the workplace the young person will receive a full induction including relevant

company policies. The site, premises and placement induction, to include as a minimum a tour
of the working environment to identify possible hazards, advise on safety precautions and
make student aware of any prohibited areas and activities. Fire drill, emergency and
evacuation procedures, First Aid and accident reporting should be explained to the student,
welfare (toilets / kitchen area). Risk assessment and control measures should be explained.
This induction may be enhanced and appropriate training given, depending on the nature of
the work. Parents are reminded that students are legally required to take proper care of
themselves and others. It is also an offence to misuse or interfere with anything provided in the
interests of Health and Safety. Use of mobile phones - Mobile telephones should be switched
off and stowed away during work periods to avoid distraction. Follow any National Covid
guidelines at the time of the placement.
