Personal Statement

I am a determined and driven African American student currently employed at FedEx,

with aspirations to ace in the field of business management through academic pursuits. Therefor

my journey has been a demonstration to resilience, determination, and a relentless chase of

knowledge and opportunity of business management. Growing up in a family that prioritized

hard work and perseverance, I learned early on the value of determination and pliability. As an

African American directing through life's challenges, I've always strived to shine despite the

obstacles that came my way. My journey, shaped by my family background, academic endeavors,

and personal interests, has prepared me for the chase of higher education and a career in business

management. My parents, despite of facing their own problems, implanted a strong work ethic

and a belief in the power of education as a pathway to success in me.

Observing my parents' sacrifices and resolve to provide for our family has fired my own

drive to excel and contribute meaningfully to the world around me. Their firm support and belief

in my potential have helped as continuous sources of motivation, pushing me forward even in the

face of hardship. My fascination with current affairs, political dynamics, and the global economy

has driven my ambition to study economics at the university level. I am also excited to explore

enthralling questions, such as the operational systems of various stock markets like the FTSE

100 and their impact on daily life and business processes. Moreover, I am interested in the

complications surrounding the downfall of large businesses, such as Enron, and seek to

understand the economic mechanisms at play. My long-term career fortitudes revolve around

international trade or civil service roles, both of which I believe can be enabled by a background

in economics. These career paths hold enormous appeals to me as they offer the opportunity to
integrate elements of economics, law, and politics, nurturing interactions with diverse individuals

worldwide and presenting avenues for global travel and work experiences.

My current academic detections are laying a solid foundation for my future university

studies. With a passion for science, I studied AS level biology during my time in school.

Currently, at the A2 level, I am immersed in a diverse array of subjects including economics,

government + politics, and chemistry. I find great enjoyment in exploring the details of our

economy, particularly the various market structures, and I am fascinated by the interplay between

government policies and economic subtleties. My studies in political policies have provided

valuable insights into power dynamics and governmental intrusions, which accompaniment my

understanding of economics. Additionally, my captivation with chemistry not only stems from its

inherent conspiracy but also helps to sharpen my arithmetical skills, ensuring I am well-equipped

for the challenges ahead.

During my time of work at a travel agency, I had the opportunity to work in their

accounts department, where I managed various tasks, such as handling invoices, processing

cancellations, and supporting with weekly and monthly banking measures. This practice allowed

me to develop essential skills in communication, as I cooperated with clients on a daily basis,

and in organization, as I efficiently managed the scheduling of terminations and bookings.

Additionally, I am actively involved in a Saturday school where I dedicate my time to teaching

Indian classical music to children. As a teacher, I am accountable for creating a favorable

learning environment and ensuring that each student receives quality instruction. This role brings

me enormous satisfaction as I have the honor of imparting my knowledge and passion for music

to the next generation.

 Beyond academics and work, my desire for music and sports has played a significant role

in shaping my character. For over a decade, I have dedicated myself to mastering the tabla, an

Indian classical instrument, performing in various performances and even at renowned venues

like Wembley Arena. Music has not only served as a creative outlet but has also instilled in me

the importance of collaboration and adaptability, skills that are vital in both academic and

professional settings. Similarly, my involvement in sports, particularly cricket, has trained me the

value of teamwork and discipline. Looking ahead, I am eager to further my education and pursue

a career that aligns with my interests and ambitions. However, financial constraints have posed a

challenge in understanding my academic goals. The opportunity to receive this scholarship

would not only assuage the financial burden but also provide me with the support and

encouragement needed to ace in my studies and business management career. Moreover, it would

allow me to focus wholeheartedly on my academic and extracurricular pursuits, without

worrying about the financial constraints.

This scholarship holds immense importance for me, both financially and personally. From a

financial standpoint, it would help me to decrease my financial burden associated with pursuing

higher education, including tuition costs, textbooks, and other educational expenses. By

dismissing this financial straining, the scholarship would afford me the opportunity to fully

dedicate myself to my academic and professional pursuits without the distraction of financial

worries. On a personal level, receiving this scholarship would serve as a validation of my hard

work, dedication, and potential. The gratitude and support provided by the scholarship would not

only boost my confidence but also repeat my belief in my abilities and aspirations. Knowing that

others believe in my potential and are invested in my success would fuel my motivation and

drive to excel in my academic and professional events.

Throughout my journey, I have encountered various challenges that have tested my resilience

and determination. One significant challenge has been navigating the balance between work and

academics while pursuing my educational goals. Working at FedEx has provided valuable

professional experience but has also required me to manage my time effectively to meet the

demands of both work and school. Financial constraints have also presented hindrances along the

way, making it challenging to afford tuition, textbooks, and other educational expenses. Despite

these challenges, I have remained unwavering in my commitment to pursuing higher education

and advancing my career in business management. Through perseverance, inventiveness, and a

strong support system, I have been able to overcome these obstacles and continue progressing

towards my goals.

In addition to my academic and professional achievements, I am actively involved in community

service and volunteer initiatives intended at giving back to underserved communities. I believe in

the importance of using my skills and resources to make a positive impact on the world around

me, and I am committed to devoted my education and experience to drive meaningful change in

society. Furthermore, I am deeply passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion within the

workplace and struggle to promote these values in all aspects of my life. As an African American

individual working in a predominantly white-collar manufacturing, I am dedicated to advocating

for greater illustrations and opportunities for understated groups in business leadership roles.

I also appreciate playing a variety of sports such as football and cricket. I am part of a

cricket club, which gives me the opportunity to train all year round, and to play in inexpensive

matches in the summer. I hope to make full use of the sporting and musical services available at

university I hope my personal statement has established that I am a keen and suitable person for

this scholarship. A finances degree will help me to further improve my diverse range of
analytical, interpretational and problem-solving skills, which I will be able to apply to, not only

my career, but also to my everyday student life.
