Keep increasing by adding 1 sts after first sts. and before last sts. on every other row (knit rows)
until you have 50 (56) 56 (62) sts.
Add 3 sts. at the beg and end of next 2 rows.
You now have 56 (62) 62 (68)
Knit 1 row and put the piece aside. You will now start on the front piece.

the middle panel for the middle panel pattern), knit til end of row.
Next row: Purl (remember 1st and last sts. always k)

Always move marker to right needle as you go.
****At the same time( you will be working the sts. pattern while increasing )knit the

******At the Same Time*****
Continue in stockinette sts. except for the middle stitch pattern.
Start increasing at the beginning of each row:
4
5
Next 6 rows: cast on 2 sts. at the beginning of 6 rows
Next 2 rows: cast on 4 sts. at the beginning of 2 rows
Next 2 rows: cast on 5 sts. at the beginning on 2 rows
Next 2 rows: cast on 4 (6) 6 (8) sts. at the beginning on 2 rows
You should have: 56 (62) 62 (68)
Knit 1 row (you are on the front side of the work). Ending with a purl row.
Join front and back on a circular needle and remember to continue stitch pattern in the middle
of the front. Add markers on the sides to mark front and back.
**Now that you are knitting in the round, purl sts. will now be knitted included the purls in
the stitch pattern.
Continue until front piece measures 18 (21) 23 (24) cm Approx. 7’ (8.5’) 9’ (9.5’) inch. From the
bottom of the front piece. It’s best if you end on a row 1, 3, of stitch pattern as you now will
divide the front and back pieces and your rows 2, 4 will now again be knit as purls. You will now
be knitting back and forth instead of knitting in the round.
Dividing the front and back pieces.
Starting with the front piece. Knit from side marker and knit across the front of romper
(remember stitch panel). When you get the other side marker you leave the back sts. on a
holder and continue with the front piece. You will now be knitting back and forth in stockinette
stitch instead of in the round (remember the middle stitch pattern).
At the same time, you will now be knitting the first 3 and last 3 sts. on every row.
Start Decreasing:
On every knit row: k3, k2tog through the back of sts. until you have 5 sts. left, k2tog , k3
On every purl row: k3 until 3 sts. left, k3
Continue until you have 30 (32) 32 (34) sts. left
Knit 3 rows garter stitch.
Row 4: button holes: k4, yo, k2tog. Knit until 6sts. left: k2tog, yo, k4
5
6
Knit 4 more rows in garter sts. Bind off. Not too tight.
Back Piece:
Pick up sts. for the back piece and knit as the front without the middle stitch pattern or button
holes.
Suspenders:
On the last garter row: k7 sts. (leave the rest of the sts. on a holder). Knit garter sts. on these 7
sts. for approx. 12 cm (5’) inch. Or desired lengt. Bind off.
Pick up remaining sts. and bind off middle sts. until you have 7 sts. left. And knit the 2nd
suspender the same way.
Leg openings (you can knit garter stitch or ribbing around leg opening):
Pick up approx. 52 (56) 56 (60) sts. around leg openings (pick up from the front side). If you pick
up too many sts. you just adjust by decreasing the amount of sts. on your first row. You can pick
up a few more if you want the leg opening a bit larger.
Knit 2 rows in garter sts (or ribbing). On the front past of the leg opening ( where the button
holes are) you make a button hole: k2, yo, k2tog. Continue in garter sts (or ribbing).
Knit in garter sts.(or ribbing) for 8 rows (total) and bind off. Be careful not to bind off too tight.
Chubby little baby legs need to be able to fits
