The unwavering faith and courage: My essay on For Greater Glory Movie

As I watched ‘’ Greater Glory,’’ I was deeply moved by the powerful story of the
cristero war. The film’s portrayal of the Mexican people’s struggle for religious freedom
and expression resonated with me on profound level. in For Greater Glory, the presence of
moral conscience is profound, woven deeply into the lives and choices of the characters as
they confront the persecution of religious freedom

The Cristero War was a pivotal moment in Mexican history. The government ‘s
brutal suppression of Catholicism sparked a rebellion led by the ordinary Mexican people,
Peasants and members of the military who refused to abandon their faith. I was struck by
the courage and conviction of these individuals who risked everything to defend their
beliefs. This war caused by the Mexican government led by Presisdent Plutarco Elias
Calles attempt to suppress Catholicism and explores how moral conscience drives
individuals to defend their faith, even in the face of danger and loss. The transformation of
General Enrique Gorostieta stands as a powerful testament to the awakening of moral
conscience. Initially, Gorostieta joins the Cristero cause not out of religious conviction but
as a matter of strategy. However, as he witnesses the suffering and sacrifices made by
ordinary people, he begins to feel a moral pull toward their struggle.

José Luis Sánchez del Río, the young boy who chooses martyrdom over renouncing
his faith, personifies unwavering moral conviction. His courage in the face of torture and
death is both moving and inspiring, showing a young conscience firmly rooted in faith and
principles.

Father Cristóbal Magallanes also exemplifies moral leadership and integrity. As a

priest, he feels a duty to remain with his parishioners despite the threats from the
government. His actions reflect a selfless moral conscience, one that prioritizes the spiritual
and emotional needs of his community above his own safety.
While watching the movie there is 3 things that resonated me most the first is
Religious freedom as a fundamental human right. Second is the importance of conviction
and courage in the face of adversity and lastly is the transformative power of faith and
community.

‘’For Greater Glory.’’ Left me reflecting on the importance of standing up or one’s

belief even in the face of overwhelming opposition. The Cristeros story serves as a
testament to the human spirit’s capacity for resilience, hope and sacrifice.

As my conclusion to this essay about this movie ‘’ For Greater Glory’’ is powerful
reminder of the enduring power of faith, courage and conviction. This movie is a symbol of
encouragement to all of us to fight for our faith. And in the terms of moral conscience, I can
say that it is the heartbeat of the story. Each character’s choices and sacrifices underscore
the power of faith and conviction, demonstrating that a deeply rooted moral conscience can
inspire individuals and communities to extraordinary acts of courage.
