Process Description:
Chocolate Fudge Brownies
Ingredients
Before starting, gather the following ingredients:
• 200g dark chocolate
• 150g unsalted butter
• 200g granulated sugar
• 100g brown sugar
• 3 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 100g all-purpose flour
• 30g cocoa powder
• ½ teaspoon salt
Optional: 100g chopped nuts or chocolate chips
Step 1: Prepare Your Equipment
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a square
baking pan (approximately 20cm x 20cm) with
parchment paper, ensuring that the edges hang over
for easy removal later. Lightly grease the parchment
paper with butter or oil.
Step 2: Melt the Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and
unsalted butter. Place the bowl over a saucepan of
simmering water, ensuring the base of the bowl does
not touch the water. Stir the mixture gently until fully
melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can melt the
mixture in a microwave, stirring every 30 seconds to
prevent burning. Set it aside to cool slightly.
Step 3: Mix the Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar,
eggs, and vanilla extract. Use a whisk or an electric mixer to beat the
mixture until it becomes pale, thick, and creamy. This step is crucial as
it incorporates air, giving the brownies a light yet fudgy texture.
Step 4: Incorporate the Chocolate Mixture
Gradually pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg and
sugar mixture. Stir gently with a spatula until well combined. Be careful
not to overmix, as this can affect the texture of the brownies.
Step 5: Combine the Dry Ingredients
Sift the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt into a separate bowl.
Slowly fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula. Stir
until just combined, ensuring there are no visible streaks of flour. If
desired, add chopped nuts or chocolate chips at this stage for extra
texture and flavor.
Step 6: Bake the Brownies
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a
spatula. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30
minutes. To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center of the
brownies. If it comes out with a few moist crumbs, they are ready. Avoid
overbaking, as this can lead to dry brownies.
Step 7: Cool and Serve
Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out
using the parchment paper edges. Once cooled, slice them into squares
or rectangles. Serve as is, or pair them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
for an indulgent dessert.
For added texture and flavor, consider folding in some chopped nuts,
such as walnuts or pecans, or a handful of chocolate chips into the
batter before baking. To avoid the brownies sticking to the pan, line it
with parchment paper and lightly grease the paper. Finally, for the best
taste, let the brownies cool completely before slicing; this allows the
flavors to set and makes them easier to cut into neat squares.
