Introduction

A reservoir static model represents the geological

structure of the reservoir by an array of discrete cells
with which values of the reservoir attributes such as
porosity, permeability and water saturation are
associated.

By static model, we mean that it is constructed by data

collected before reservoir fluids flow up to the surface.

Facies Modeling
• In clastic systems, petrophysical properties
follow certain depositional and diagenetic
trends.

• Depositional environment Facies model

• Petrophysical models (porosity,

permeability, saturation) are built from
facies model
Petrophysical Model
 The geological properties are
filled into the geological grid.
 Often guided by a facies model
which gives the distribution of
the units.
 The properties can be
modelled deterministic or
stochastically
