Strategy Guide written by Kevin
This system has been designed to be as simple as possible.
If nothing is happening in the game you don’t do anything, if goals are going in then you do something. Simple!
Trading Rambo
All of the ᡔxtures on the shortlist have passed the initial ᡔlters.
When picking out trades, look for as much green as possible as they will be the strongest possible selections.
I will assume that you have split your bank into 100pts and for the purpose of this example I will say that 1pt = £100.
Once you have found a selection, you need to set up your trade using our Dutching calculator (http://www.goalproᡔts.com/dutching-calculator/).
You will be dutching 3-1, 2-2, 1-3 for a total of 0.5pt and that's all there is to it.
Here is Rambo all set up for a German game, Frankfurt v Furth:
As you can see I have around £350 proᡔt on each of the target scores and a £50 liability on all other scores.
If you wish, you can leave it at that and play the game as it comes.
If there are no goals you will lose 0.5pt and if the game ends on any other score than a target score you will also lose 0.5pt.
However, this is how I approach Rambo trades; I lay 0-0 @ 11.00 to give me a liability of 2pts on 0-0.
Before the game starts the odds are 11.50, so I put an order in for a £15 lay @ 11.00.
That will quickly get picked up once the games starts and will reduce the liability on all others scores to £35 or 0.35pt.
I do not lay above 11.00.
Worst case
Dealing with the easy bit ᡔrst, if the game ends 0-0 there is nothing to do at any stage of the game and the loss will be 2pts.
If you are not mentally ready for that, then please do not play Rambo.
Of course, if you are an aggressive trader you do have the option later on in the game to lay 0-0 again for 0.35pt which will give you a scratch with
just one goal, but if it ends 0-0 you will have increased your loss slightly, depending on the odds at which you layed 0-0 late on.
First half
I have layed 0-0 @ 11.00 and there is nothing else to do now until a goal comes along.
If there is goal before 30 minutes, I lay the 1-0 or 0-1 to give me a liability of 2pts on that score. This will reduce my liability on other
scores right down to a small level, as long as I get one more goal during the rest of the game.
If the ᡔrst goal comes between 30-45 minutes, I do nothing until half-time.
If there is a goal before my original lay of 0-0 @ 11.00 gets matched then I will lay the 1-0 or 0-1 score at a maximum of 11.00 so that I
have a liability of 2pts on that score.
If there is another goal before 30 minutes I will lay that score to a maximum liability of 2pts.
If the second goal comes between 30-45 minutes I do nothing until half-time.
Half-time
Once the game reaches half-time, I will assess my trade position:
If it is 0-0 at half-time I will have a liability of 2pts on 0-0 and a liability of 0.35 points on other scores, but a nice proᡔt on target scores.
Obviously the target scores are pretty far away at this stage.
If the game is 1-0 or 0-1 at half-time it will depend when the goal was scored. If it was scored before 30 minutes, I will have a liability of
2pts on it but a very small liability on other scores and a very good proᡔt on target scores. If it was scored between 30-45 minutes I will
have a liability of 0.35 points on it.
If the score is anything but 0-0, 1-0, 0-1 I will have a liability ranging from 0.35 points down to zero.
I can then take the appropriate action, ready for the second half:
If it is 0-0 there is no decision to make; I do nothing.
If it is 1-0/0-1 and I have a liability of 2pts, there is no decision to make; I do nothing.
If it is 1-0/0-1 and I have a liability of 0.35 points, I lay that score to give a maximum liability of 1pt. This will probably leave a small
liability on other scores, but a maximum liability of 1pt if it ends 1-0/0-1.
If it is any other score but 0-0, 1-0, 0-1 I lay the score to give a maximum liability of 1pt.
Second half
The second half is all about getting it as close as possible to a target score and a couple of ᡔrst half goals will help that, of course.
If there were no ᡔrst half goals or maybe just one, then the real aim is to make a scratch.
All I really need is one goal in the second half and, if can can get it, my maximum liability will be 0.35pt.
If I go for a late goal saver that could increase to between 0.5-0.7pt, but I will be guided by in-play stats and the current score before making that
late decision.
Hitting a target score will be a fabulous bonus, but making a scratch will be pretty sweet also.
If it is 0-0 at half-time and I get a goal then I lay 1-0 or 0-1 for 0.35pt @ 2.0 or below to give me a scratch with one more goal. If there
are no more goals then the maximum liability would be 0.7pt.
If it is 1-0/0-1 at half-time, I have either a 1pt or 2pts liability on that score. After a second half goal, I lay that score for enough to give
me a scratch with one more goal @ 2.00 or below. If there are no more goals I lose 0.2-0.4pt.
If I get two goals in ᡔrst half I will have a maximum liability of 1pt and one goal in the second half will probably give me scratch. If that
happens I don’t do anything; I am just one goal away from a big proᡔt so will hold onto that proᡔt as long as I can.
If at any point in the second half I am scratch, I am happy to let the trade run and see what happens up until the 80th minute. At that
point if I can secure some proᡔt by laying some green off one or two target scores then that is what I do. In doing so, I will still leave
most of the proᡔt on a target score.
If a target score is hit early on in the second half, the priority is to make sure of a scratch. From there, lay proᡔt out of the target score
to at least make some green from the trade, then drip lay further to give an equal proᡔt on all scores.
Of course, it is impossible to explain all the possibilities when doing a correct score trade but the main ones are covered here.
Further Advice
I tend to play a lot of these in the chat room, more or less as laid out on the 'Rambo' page.
When I play a Rambo for myself though, I do it slightly differently.
If you have read all my advice on Launchpad, you will be well aware that I do not get into any trade before 15 minutes or so.
For my personal Rambo trades, this is no exception.
I get in on 15-20 minutes as long as it is still 0-0 and there have been at least 8 shots and corners, with 4 shots on target.
By doing this I get much more proᡔt on target scores and less liability on 0-0.
If there has not been much in-play action, I leave it alone and move on.
I don't need to go into detail about the trade itself, as it is covered above.
