Description of the Course:
Code and Descriptive Title: Nursing Care and Management
Setting: Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center (BRHMC)
Duration: Three (3) days a week; Twenty-four (24) hours per week
Focus: Nursing process in the care and management of clients during Pre and Post Operative Phase with emphasis on the physical,
psychological, spiritual, ethico-moral, and legal aspects of nursing care.
Description of the Learners: The learners for this course are full time 4th year BSN students who are in their late adolescent and young
adulthood stage. They are heterogeneous, with average intellectual ability, majority are females, and few males and most of the
students came from middle income families in Bicol Region. The group is composed of 5 students. They had taken prerequisite subjects
in the major nursing courses and it is their first exposure in the clinical area of Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center (BRHMC). This is
their last year in the nursing program; thus, they are expected to be acquainted with the area, policies, procedures, activities, roles and
functions as scrub and circulating nurses at the Operating Room with minimal guidance and supervision needed. As a beginning nurse
practitioner, leadership and management skills are expected to be demonstrated, likewise they are expected to function
independently.
