Topic: Causes a species to become endangered.

In today’s world, many kinds of species are already extinct and several animals are
noted down in the Red Book. Scientists claim that animals play a crucial role in
balancing the ecosystem and numerous of them provide not only biological but also
medical research resources. Therefore, the continuation of disappearing rare animals
causes disadvantages and loss of valuable merits toward both humans and the
environment. The seriously alarming issue that many species are facing the risk of
extinction is caused by three main factors.

The first and immediate reason for a species to become endangered is the destruction
of natural habitats. To begin with, serious environmental contamination including soil
pollution and water pollution is believed to have a crucial impact on animals’ habitats.
Humans release litter from daily life and several chemicals from industrial activities
into the environment. In addition, deforestation is one of the serious problems for
wildlife habitat. People destroying forests for farming or construction has resulted in
the loss of homes for terrestrial animals, and they are forced to migrate. As there is no
appropriate habitat, they gradually die. Moreover, some animals which are prefer the
cool weather can not bear the higher and higher temperatures due to global warming,
which triggers extreme climate and natural disasters. Consequently, they quickly
decrease in number and significantly reduce fertility.

The second cause of this problem is the inroad of invasive species, which have such
large ecosystem impacts. They destroy infrastructure. They harm livestock and native
animals. They bring some new diseases. They disrupt ecosystems. Why are they so
harmful? It is about their behavior. Invasive species are brought to a new place either
accidentally or on purpose. On account of the fact that those species are able to adapt
to strange areas very rapidly, they breed and spread with amazing speed to take over
that space. There is a lack of natural predators that would normally keep their
population down. Then, the invaders compete for food sources with native species and
occupy their natural habitats. Due to the high population and reproduction quickly of
invasive species, the native animals are normally unable to compete with the invaders
and may be killed. And that is why a large of the species that were there first have
been wiped out of the world.

The third and most significant factor is illegal hunting. It is a serious problem of
human perception and morality. For many decades, humans have been used to hunting
wildlife animals for food, entertainment and exchange, and many people still keep that
habit until now. Despite the prohibition from the government and a lot of laws on
animal protection, some people can not stand the temptation of money so they disobey
and regardless of the possibility of going to jail. It can not be denied that Illegal
animal trade brings a massive commercial profit. Due to high consumption demand,
people poach more and more to meet the demand. In the black market, the rich are
willing to pay huge money for a rare animal to be a pet or a part of its body to display.
People use fur, skin, bone, and so on from wildlife species to produce some products
such as clothes, decorations and medicines. For instance, people are poaching
elephants for ivory as decorations and tigers for skins to make carpets. As a result,
more wildlife animals gradually disappear from the Red Book owing to human greed.

In conclusion, natural habitat loss, wildlife hunting, and invasive species are the
three main drivers of animal extinction. Although the World Society for the
Protection of Animals was established, the number of species is still significantly
reduced. It is my firm belief that the situation is going to get worse if there are any
new solutions to minimize these causes. People all over the world should be aware of
the benefits of animals and this seriously issue to limit their impact on the
environment and protect endangered species.
